Q: i am wondering if the drone are for show or actually play some have the drones just for show.

Dear M. Beck -- The toy bagpipes are great, but the drones are indeed only for show. However, the chanter is a working practice chanter. My young son was a bagpiper for Halloween, and what we did was to put an iTouch loaded up with bagpipe solos attached to a small battery-powered speaker into the bag. He would then walk around moving his hands on the chanter and the illusion that he was playing the bagpipes was really convincing. However, he could also squeeze the bag and create a note or two on the chanter, and that gave the impression that it was a real instrument and not only a recording. He won the local costume contest for the kids. -- D. Wulf

Way below my expectations

These looked so nice and had good reviews but I think they are junk. My grandson had them a week or so and they fell apart. Don't waste your money

Item was difficult for a 12 year old to play ...

Item was difficult for a 12 year old to play as instructed. Item stopped playing any sound after 2 weeks. Just not worth it.
