Nice system!
I’m very pleased with this unit, just got it professionally installed w/two Kicker 12” subwoofer(800watts) and working great, outstanding sound with deep bass...easy to navigate through the iPhone with the CarPlay, apps, Waze, DVD, etc. I recommend this unit.

Good
This stereo works and fits great in my Subaru Legacy. The touchscreen works pretty well though there have been a few occasions where I have to press more than once.It didn't come with its own camera but I bought a pretty cheap camera and connected it and it looks great.Overall quality and look is great but some of the apps don't work the way I expected.Sometimes its way too much effort to use the plug and play feature for apps like Waze/ Youtube etc with iPhone XS.

Android auto and Kenwood stereo
I purchased this stereo upgrade for the Bluetooth and the Apple car play and android auto functions. I installed it and got it running. The android auto is not working. It was working when I put everything together and finished the install. It worked a few time, but now I only get unrecognized device...the apple Carplay is working fine. So I will post more information if things change. So I would not recommend this unit if you want Android auto. Blogs say that this is a major issue. They say to upgrade the software on the phone get a better cable. blah blah blah. worthless.03/10/2019 Update. I did a software update on the unit itself. The update addressed some of the errors that I was experiencing. It was a bit better, and when I plug the cord into the phone, it seems to connect, but, still experiencing the unit freezing up. Still a 3 star... unless things change. Was thinking of getting another, but am holding off.

Dont waste your money on this POS
If you look at the stars rated, it might look odd to place at 1 star. There are two reasons for the 1-star: first, the logic for connections (bluetooth, CD, radio) are not user friendly unless you have a friend in the car to do this for you. The second and most imporant to me, is this stereo apparently cannot distinguish one Samsung phone from another. 3-4 times, I have had to delete 2 phones, go through the turn off bluetooth, pair, add phonebooks, etc. to get this stereo to play bluetooth music on one of the phones. Believe it or not, the very reason I bought the Kenwood over the more expensive Pioneer was a couple of reviewers mentioned the ease of connecting to their Androids. IVE LEARNED MY LESSON ONLY PIONEER CAR STEREO FROM NOW ON. The extra cost of the Pioneer is cheap, compared with the frustration of dealing with this hunk of junk. Junk I still have to live with, until it dies a merciful (or merciless) existence

How to make it work wityh iPhone 8's or later
At first once I got this radio installed, Apple Carplay didn't work for my iPhone XS Max. I was close to returning it due to Carplay not working which is the main reason why I bought it. After updating the software, it still didn't work. I changed the cable. Nothing. I finally called Kenwood and they said to initialize it again after the update and finally it started working. You would think they would update the manual to reflect this. But the manual only says it is compatible with iPhone 7's or lower. So after all of that the Carplay is finally working on newer phones.
