Always good. Makes the best topping for strawberry cake.Bisquick bottom----- 1 cup Bisquick, 1 cup sugar , 5 eggs--separated, juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/4 tsp. almond extractBeat egg whites until stiff...slowly add 1/2 cup of the sugarBeat egg yolks in a separate bowl with the other 1/2 cup sugar, almond ext. and lemon juice. Then add Bisquick, and mix.Gently fold in egg whites.Bake in a 11 inch Springform at 300 degrees for 25-35 min. Should be light brown and "springy".Cool in SpringformAdd whole or cut strawberries on top of cake while still in Springform--------Prepare Tortenguss ----mix 1 packet Tortenguss with 2 TBSP sugar in a medium pan. Add 1 cup cold water, stir until dissolved.Bring to a boil and stir 1 minute.....Tortenguss will darken while cooking.Spoon over cake....cool...refrigerate.....serve when Tortenguss is hardened.

I've been using this since the late 80s to protect and add a finishing touch to various fruit tarts. It works superbly and doesn't add any taste of its own. It's also the perfect shade so it can stand-in for clear glaze if necessary.

Instructions aren't in English. Reviews had my hopes up but the taste just wasn't there. Needed more sugar than what recipe called for to taste good. I was trying to use this for strawberry shortcake

I had placed an order for 4 Red Cake Glaze and received only one and 3 Strawberry. When I contacted Dr Oetker they promptly reshipped the Red Glaze. I have been using Dr. Oetker Red Cake Glaze for years on my fruit cakes and will not use anything else. The Red Glaze makes the cake look very appetizing and also taste yummy. Now I can continue making my family and friends happy with my fruit cakes as the store is out of business and no longer can buy it in another store. Thank you Dr. Oetker for being so gracious and re-sending the Glaze. You are AWESOME!!!Adina
