Strong
You need to press quite firmly to get the first turn started but once in place it holds well , Freddie is a chewer by nature but he was disinclined to chew the line which was brilliant . As Freddie is a strong schnauzer ( about 15 kg ) with the pulling force of an elephant we had our doubts but it held very well and he soon grasped the concept that his range of movement was restricted .Bought to use on holiday as the property had communal grounds , the line was long enough for him to roam to the bushes and inside the doorway but not to get to the adjoining property .Would have been 5 stars all round if it weren’t for the fact that some of the coating on the corkscrew part had lifted after a weeks use

Good but didn’t like double ended wire rope
Really sturdy and great for using on camping/caravan trips. Only giving 3 stars because I don’t actually like the double ended wire lead it comes with. My dog dog tangled in it a few times (she is a 10 month old springer pup) and I had fear of her really hurting herself and also if I needed to grab the lead at any point if she was getting in the way at all it wasn’t the most comfortable to hold so after the first few goes I swapped it for her normal halti lead which is double ended ! Much better and meant if we were going anywhere I could just unclip and go. She’s strong and there was no way she was pulling it out of the ground.

Very strong!
Buying this for my dog, a miniature poodle, was a huge mistake. Basically, this anchor and cable would probably be okay for a 17 stone Rottweiler and is certainly overkill for my little poodle. Having said that, the very heavy duty nature of the anchor makes it very easy to screw into the ground - maybe I’ll just buy a lighter cable!

Good, sturdy tie-out
This is a sturdier tie-out than I expected (both the stake and the cable), much better than the one I bought from the local pet shop (and which is not strong enough for our new hound).

7 month puppy Escaped
I got the product when my puppy was only a couple of months old. I ordered it because it looked great quality and on first inspection I was very pleased (Stupidly I did not test the item when I got it).At the age of seven months I took our dog camping. On arriving at the campsite we set up the skewer so that he could wait out in the cool while my family and i set up the tent. We screwed the skewer into the ground and clicked him onto the end. Within seconds he saw another dog across the field and ran towards it. The clip attaching his harness to the lead snapped straight off and off he ran across the field. Luckily we caught him and no damage was done but this could so easily have ended badly. We had to adapt his lead to attach the lead on the stake so we could use it but even than we didn't really trust it.A poor quality item. Not worth risking your dog for!

Bends easily
Stays in the ground well, however on our camping trip, our Welsh Springer Spaniel puppy managed to bend it. She is only small, so prob not suitable for larger dogs.

Screw it!
Worked fine for our middle size and energetic dog. Used occasionally on trips to public parks and on first few days of holidays in the garden of our rental accommodation. I cannot fault the product. 5 stars for me.

Does the job but could be better
Good product but there's no spring damper on the cable. My puppy ran full pelt with the cable under him, it caught under his leg and yanked him to an immediate halt!Nobody wants to hear their puppy help in pain!
