Planning a trip
Very interesting articles for planning a month long trip. He just hasn’t left soon enough! 😉

It was OK
The book is set up to travel from east to west, so I had to do it in reverse order. I found some of the places hard to find, especially the singing road in Tijeras, NM which I never did find. Maybe it isn't there anymore. Some of the attractions were a long way from Rt. 66.

Just ok
I don’t like the layout. I wished it went in order of locations.

Lots of hidden gems!
I bought this book before I took a 2 week trip to cover all of route 66! We used it roughly as a guide to where we should go and found it took us to some really neat places! I think we definitely would have missed most of these if the book had not pointed us in that direction. I only rated it 4 stars as we did find lots of places in the book are no longer open. Sadly some of them did not survive the COVID crisis. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is going to do even part of this route!

Outstanding Guide for Rt66 with features, history and maps!
We were looking for a book to guide us on an upcoming trip in the Spring, taking actual Route 66 from Oklahoma City to just past the Illinois border. We will travel in our Motorhome to a new Military Duty Base, but take 4 or 5 days of easy travel in order to really experience the unusual and quaint things found on the Mother Road. This book is FILLED with outstanding narratives of attractions and historical monuments along the way.At the same time, maps are included to keep you on Route 66, which can be difficult to navigate at times.Well written, with LOTS of photos, descriptions, instructions, practical tips and cultural humor, this is THE guide we wanted and hoped for. There are others we may use as an adjunct to this one, but clearly this is the reference for America's Mother Road.Easy FIVE STARs for us, along with our hearty recommendation if you plan to travel Route 66... either for business OR for total pleasure. A++!*If you found my review helpful to you, please let Amazon know by clicking the "HELPFUL" button below!

Use other resources along with this one!
We used this book as one of our primary resources during a recent trip on Route 66 - started at Springfield, Missouri and traveled through to Amarillo. We appreciated that some natural wonders, and historic sites (i.e. Civil War battlefields) are highlighted, as well as the kitschy places. To no fault of the author: We found that a few of the addresses given were "wrong" - using the addresses given, our GPS took us fairly close, but not quite to the site. Also, many of the older Route 66 gas stations, etc. are now totally defunct, so no gift shops, etc., and look like they have been so for MANY years. There are many places that are listed on the nps.gov website (National Park Service) that weren't in the book, and we were GLAD to have found them on the internet. All that being said, this is a good resource, but it's limited (who could ever list ALL the sites on Route 66???), so use OTHER RESOURCES along with it.

This book helped us find the sites easier
We would have missed a lot of the hot spots without this book. We referred to this book all the way through the trip.

Super
J’aime beaucoup ce livre qui présente les principaux points d’interêt le long de la Route 66. J’aurais aimé une édition en Français mais bon, ça me fait travailler mon Anglais!
