Superb Inspiration
Sue B's September 2011 review is thorough and I echo her delight with the book. While this is a technique rather than a project volume, it is not a "how to" book per se. For instance, Kim Thittichai mentions generally how she colors with procion dyes, but if you don't know how to use the dyes, you'll need another resource for specifics. With that understanding, Layered Textiles is instruction and inspiration for all levels of fiber artists who love combining the fabulous and varied materials we have available. It will fuel your excitement for making your own complex layers.

Lovely and great techniques
I really blew it with this book. I bought it, leafed through it, thought "it's a lot like so many other British textile books I own," then returned it. I just checked it out of the library and read it in more depth, so now I'm going to have to buy it all over again! There is plenty of original material in here and I must have been in a cranky mood when I first looked at it. I really love it and now I don't want to return it to the library. However, honesty will win out, and I'll just have to add one more item to my Wish List - but it's going right at the top!

Interesting, but not sure what to do with it
I bought both of the books in this series and I'm really not sure what to say about them. When I read creative books, great ones anyway, I get so much inspiration, so many ideas, that I can barely get through a few pages before wanting to put the book down and go try a new technique. That just didn't happen here. I didn't feel that urge to put the books down and get up and go play. But that doesn't mean I didn't like the books either, as I did. I guess I'm looking at them as interesting and gorgeous books/art/etc., but as yet haven't figured out how to incorporate it into my art.The art and techniques in the books is 100% for fine craft wall hangings and vessels. There is nothing crafty, quilty, rubber stamped, etc. in them. I don't make wall hangings or vessels, so I suspect that that's why I didn't have the urge to drop the book and go play.

Great Purchase
I bought this book on a whim, i had actually come online to get a different book. Im glad i did get this, although there isnt a great deal in how to produce certain items, it shows the many different possibilities with textiles. Its inspirational for sparking some creativity and gives the names of all the artists who have produced the work so you can go and find out more for yourself as there styles are all unique. it also includes addresses of suppliers, websites, blogs and further reading

Texture in Bucket Loads!
The front cover of the book is very tactile! Is just the beginning of a great book! The author gives simple instructions to her own projects, and introduces you to lots of textile artists and perhaps a range of techniques that you may not have tried. Took this book to class this week to show the others ...... more orders on the way I think. They are all lovely - but fussy bunch so it must be good! Enjoy

A great help for exploring getting more texture into textile work
Originally borrowed a copy from the library, but needed it for longer than they would allow for renewal......so i bought my own copy! A great help for exploring getting more texture into textile work.

Excellent
I really like this book - very well written, clearly illustrated with excellent quality photographs. It is inspirational in its content and should be on every textile artist's bookshelf. Great for amateurs too, as well as those with higher skill levels.
