Great mic for live applications or recording. I especially like the fact that it fits in a standard mic clip. Great buy! Don’t hesitate if you’re considering purchasing this mic.

I bought of couple of these mikes as part of a setup to amplify an a cappela concert in my synagogue's social hall. I was worried about the sensitivity of the mikes at a distance and the pickup pattern, but they worked great. They are well constructed and sensitive, and with big speakers just off to the side of them I did not get excessive feedback with the cardioid pattern. They game with good stand clips, and nice pouches. I have used them a couple of times since to mike large rooms, and to pick up small acoustical instrumental groups, and they have worked great in a variety of situations. I even found a phantom power box that works with one mike, so you can use the mike plugged into a PA system with no phantom power, which has extended the use of that system.

Highly versatile mic, with a clean and crisp response, and the durability you would expect from Shure mics. I've already used this mic for several different applications in our church both live and recorded (small vocal ensemble, acoustic guitar, hi-hat, cello, guitar cab). Obviously you could spend more money and get an SM81 or something similar, but I've found this to be an affordable option for well-rounded use. Just remember to have phantom power accessible, and you're off to the races with this workhorse of a mic!
