Good solid knife
Over the years I have purchased/owned a number of kershaw knives and you may say I have become a Kershaw knife collector. When I first saw this original looking knife a few months ago I knew I had to add it to my collection, but at the time it was on pre-order so I decided to wait. Recently, I checked again and noticed that it was in stock and with Amazon Prime I could get two day delivery so I decided to take a closer look at it. I then noticed a number of reviews, none giving anything above a four star review and most being three and I became little weary of purchasing. After a few days of thinking it over I decided to give it a try, I figured if it was as bad as the reviews said I could return it. I then purchased two, one for me and one as a gift for a friend. THE REVIEW: The knife is solid, like all other Kershaw's that I own. Yes, the knife is a little heavy, but that is why I like it, it feels strong, as its name implies, Decimus, a Gladiator. Opening is very easy with the Speed-Safe assisted opening. And I can easily close it with one had as opposed to my Identity knife, which is impossible to close with one hand. As far as the blade blade being loose, I took both the knives I purchased out of their boxes and checked each one individually; the blades on the ones I received are not loose. As far as the clip, I did not have to make any adjustments and it holds the knife securely in the front pocket of my pants with out protruding out too much. Overall, I like the knife and for now it has become my everyday carry knife. And as far as looks, it it's the most unique knife that I own. And personally, I love the Bayonet/Spear look of the knife.

My new favorite flipper!
I like folding knives and I have a few other assisted-open knives from Kershaw (several Leeks and a Scallion). This one's a bit half the price of those at $35 at the time of my purchase. The spring-assisted open is nice and it snaps out with a firm release (too soft and it might come upon at unwanted times). The lockup is good; it's a liner lock so not SUPER strong but seems about as good as the average liner lock. One-handed close is pretty simple and comparable to most liner locks, with slightly more force required to overcome the spring tension. But all that's just stuff it could have messed up but didn't. The REAL reason I like this thing is its nice shape, good ergos, and bad-ass appearance. It's got a. great profile and feels good in hand.

Very good.
Very nice budget knife, itโs been my everyday carry for years now. Itโs a decent steel blade, and the frame and spring are still going strong.

Kershaw decimus review
Honest decimus review Ill be honest. Im rough on knives. Ex military and still flying choppers for a living. I bought this because i wanted something i could bang up and not worry about it like my benchmade. I used it to pry difficult cam locks, slice boxes open, cut steak on an offshore platform for dinner. Slice apples, scrape loose paint, open beer bottles (you never heard that) filet a triger fish and a pompano offshore, remove pesky windshield decals that were expired, punch a needed hole in a belt (tip worked well for that). And clean the waffle of my boot from proseal that had cured.. I use my knife almost every day in an environment that requires one to be a little self sufficient. What i can say is .. is this the hinderer maximus? No! Do i want it to be? No. No one really wants to put a 400 dollar blade theough the ringer and thats the problem with high priced knives for those that actually use them. What i will say is ive had no problems at all with loose blade.. nor the pocket clip or the speed safe action. It can however dull easy but sharpens just as easy with my pocket lansky sharperner where it can shave arm hairs off easily. Bottom line. I love it as an edc. I think kershaw has a great product. Id gladly pay another 20 for an upgraded blade steel and another 40 for manufacturing in the USA. But meh... what i needed was tool i knew i would abuse. Its held up great for over a year which is more than i thought it would!!!. Just one ex soldiers opinion. If your doubting .. go ahead. It will hold up. And if it doesnt.. you must have really been bangin on it.. plus if it does give out you ainโt out 400.. its taken far more abuse than my benchmade did through both iraq and Afghanistan.. (but thats an heirloom now for my boy so its retired ๐). I wasnโt expecting sparks but to its credit its held up just fine.

I like the Blade Shape And Solid Feel
I have liked the dagger blade shape for a while. I wanted a folding knife with this shape but not double edged. In my humble opinion, single edged folding blades are much safer than double edged. I have a couple of fixed blade daggers but this is my first folding one and it was a good purchase. This Kershaw Decimus scratched that dagger blade itch. It's also well made and heavy. I don't mind heavier knives because I've carried knives most of my life(I'm almost 65.) and am used to the weight of a knife in my pocket. And I wear a good belt, even when I wear shorts. It's an old man thing...:) A knife with this blade shape and quality is a knife I'll carry and use. I carry this knife almost daily for walks, bicycle rides, etc. It fits well in my medium sized hand and it just feels solid. I have more expensive knives but this one is one of my favorites at any price.

Looks Great, but the action is a bit stiff
I bought it for the look, but the assist is more stiff than I would prefer.

Bought this for the blade shape...
Decent little pocket knife. I was looking specifically for the shape this blade has, even down to the width. Not really a "do it all" knife by no means, but it has done what I need it to do so far. It did come with a small nick on the blade, but from what I understand, that is common with this type of steel. Time will tell how this knife will hold up with what I throw at it. It didn't come razor sharp, but it was sharp enough for me. In the meantime, I'm always on the search for a "better" knife.
