Panasonic DECT 6.0 PLUS Big Button Expandable Cordless Phones System with Talking Caller ID

I wanted a solid phone with no answering machine (I have voice mail from my provider, which I prefer). This one is well made, good hand feel & heft, good-sized buttons, and clear, easy to use features. The sound is clear and it has an added feature - you can block calls. I didn't know that when I bought it, but it is a valuable thing to have. Even though I'm on the Do Not Call Registry and have an unlisted number, I get a lot of aggressive marketing calls. Fun to block them and the phone does it well. Works great, easy to learn, well-made, and great sound. Can't beat it. Oh, it also has the increasingly common feature of voicing who is calling, which I didn't think I'd want or need, but it comes in handy when you're across the room and your hands are full.

This Panasonic cordless phone is really good. The sound quality is great, and The talking caller ID is really clear and understandable. I’ve owned other panasonic cordless phones with talking caller ID, and when I plugged this phone in and call it, I was surprised to find that Panasonic updated the voice on the phone. It is much clearer. The phone has 15 cool ringtones to choose from, including 5 standard rings, and several melodies. I also enjoy the speaker phone on this handset; it’s very clear. I would highly recommend this phone if you are looking for a handset with big buttons, several ringtones, and talking caller ID.

I gave this phone to a friend as a Christmas present. She needed to replace her old phone and wanted the larger key pad. Lo and behold it turned out it did not have a message waiting indicator light, at least not that we could tell from the instruction booklet. Indeed one of the answered questions here on Amazon stated just that - no message indicator light. Well my friend loved the look, feel and sound quality of the phone so much that she was willing to give up on having a message indicator light. But just for the heck of it, she called Panasonic Customer Service about the issue. Customer Service walked her through the steps needed to activate this capability. Of course she had to call CS using her cell phone so she could work on the Panasonic while the rep walked her through the process, but voila, now this not-advertised, unexplained-in-the-instructions, declared-by-another-Amazon-customer-to-not-exist, feature is up and running just fine. I want to add that I am talking about messages on her voice mail provided by her phone company, not those from an in-home answering machine.

Purchased for Mom, she likes it, announces who is calling but it is not loud enough to hear unless you are in the room with the phone. It has a speaker phone on it which Mom likes, she can't hear it well enough when she puts next to her ear. It has giant numbers on the key pad so Mom can see them and they light up at night. Over all it was a good purchase for Mom.

This is a GREAT phone! Sound quality is great and I LOVE the talking caller ID. Having a phonebook that will store100 phone numbers is great as well.

I wrote this review because I got the home phone as part of a deal with my cable company. The phone is very light, but I really like the voice caller ID function. It announces the caller before I pick up the phone. I never get any calls because I use strictly cell phones. I basically get calls from telemarketers and I know not to pick up or block them. Maybe at some point, I will actually use this phone.

The fact that this phone announces who (or what number) is calling is a plus. Big screen and big buttons also make this a great phone, making it convenient for people who may have sight issues, as the numbers and screen are easy to see and use. Redial is simple, as is entering numbers into the memory. Volume is adjustable. It lost a star in speaker quality, as the speaker is a bit distorted.

I bought this phone because the Panasonic I had for many years stopped working and the functions on this phone were just like the old one. Plus it had extra functions I really like. But the sound quality is not as good and I frequently get interference that I can't get rid of. Also the battery does not last as long. If it is not fully charged the calls get dropped. I am keeping the phone but I don't know how long it will last.
