Klean Kanteen Stainless Unibody Bamboo Cap

I purchased this because I didn’t know if the plastic caps would leech harmful chemicals when exposed to essential oils like lemon. Not that it’s a big deal, but it makes my bottle look a lot better as an added bonus. I have dropped my bottle twice on the cap handle which made it pop off both times. I was able to put the handle back on both times and it looks fine, just a little scratched up. I think this is a great upgrade for anyone’s bottle, just wish that it wasn’t so expensive.

Pros: beautiful (have gotten many compliments), easy to carry with one finger, not that much noisier than the plastic lids if you are careful- lift it very slightly while screwing/unscrewing it and you won’t have as much metal-on-metal friction (and therefore less noise). Trust me on this- I have sensitive ears!Cons: a little heavier than the other stainless lid, bamboo can be slightly rough at edges- recommend using food-safe wax (the stuff you use for wooden cutting boards and salad bowls) to protect edges and for protection in general.

I am using it on my 27 oz vacuum insulated Hydro Flask which I use to hold hot water. To check if it leaks, I turned the bottle up-side down and to my surprise, beads of water leak thru. Not a lot but bad enough to wet your bag if you place it on its side. I purchased new gasket (stated specifically for Klean Kanteen) from Amazon, but it still leaks.Recently I purchased a TOPOKO bamboo cap and tried it on my Hydro Flask and it did not leak. I think the reason why the TOPOKO does not leak is because the silicon O-ring is slightly bigger compare to the skinny O-ring from Klean Kanteen.I downgrade this to 3-stars because of the leak. However I must say that the Klean Kanteen Bamboo Cap is of much higher quality than that of the TOPOKO. The threads of the KK cap is much more defined and it takes almost 2 turns to close tight where else the TOPOKO takes about 3/4 of a turn to close tight. The pictures show the subtle differences between the two products.I hope KK can improve on the O-ring gasket and stop the leaks, then it is definitely a 5-stars product.

I am well pleased. I find the cap to be both functionally and aesthetically pleasing. It makes the bottle easy and comfortable to carry, and It seals well.I am not particularly fond of logos. I prefer a much cleaner look. I wanted to simply have the stainless and wood tones and so I took a fine grit sandpaper to the bottle and wet sanded it all down, removing the logos and giving it a more erratically brushed look.The Bamboo is untreated, and will deteriorate if left this way. I recommend frequently using a butcher block conditioner/oil mixture that has a protective wax in order to seal and protect the bamboo from moisture. This can be found at any hardware store.

I like these caps better than the default cap because they look nicer and feel better to carry since I can fit more fingers into it. That said, this was a replacement because the loop finally came off my previous one. That's not a serious indictment tho; the last one held for over four years, which seems reasonable to me.

This alternate lid for my Klean Kanteen bottle was purchased on a whim, and so far I like it. It seals just as well as the stock plastic lid, but this one can be set down upside-down to avoid getting the threads dirty. Also, the finger loop is larger for easier looping of fingers. I'd give it 5 stars, but the metal-on-metal squeaks a bit when I screw and unscrew this lid.

I really love the stainless steel top for my Klean Kanteen. 1. The bamboo looks slick. 2. The metal top reduces the use of plastic (and plastic touching what I am putting into my body). 3) The metal ring on the top makes the canteen easier to carry than the plastic one. Worth the money if you use the Klean Kanteen daily as I do. The only draw back is that it being metal on metal, makes more noise screwing the top on. Not a big deal for me unless I am at a seminar and trying to be quiet.

It's of higher quality than the plastic normal cap that came with my Klean Kanteen. The bamboo top is a nice element and the stainless hook ring makes it way easier to take the cap off when you have it tight. The plastic cap is narrower on top and is slick. You don't have much grip. The metal ring is wider than the cap and you have more leverage. I'm also glad that stainless doesn't leach voc's, even though I've read that it isn't enough to be an issue with thermoses. A great add on to my canteen.

Arrived extremely quickly (Talking 24hrs when the estimate was about 3-4 working days) and I am VERY pleased. I previously used the Sport Cap 3.0 but I was sick of the filter leaking all over the place, and I ended up dropping my bottle and cracking the plastic, so I decided to buy this Steel/Bamboo cap for both that premium factor and because if I drop my bottle again, this one shouldn’t completely break. From using it for a couple of days now, I’m very impressed. There are absolutely no leaks. It’s a little bit squeaky when you remove it but that’s understandable considering it’s steel on steel.UPDATE: After about a week of using this cap, I’m super happy with it! Absolutely no leaks, and it just feels overall nicer using a metal cap.UPDATE 2 (because Amazon keeps emailing me): Still a great cap, no leaks, the fact that you have to be careful to not completely soak the bamboo top is a little bit annoying but not enough to damage my review.

An excellent, high quality cap for the klean kanteen. The bamboo finish is very nice, and also durable, having used this for over a year now. The handle is also very strong, and has shown no signs of breaking after daily heavy use. The seal is strong and it is easy to tighten. The only issues I have had with this cap are difficulty opening when tightened fully (although this is better than it leaking) and it being loud to open at times (only an issue in very quiet rooms/libraries etc., can be solved by opening slowly). Apart from this I have had no problems and would recommend this over the many plastic caps available due to the increased durability. The sports cap may be preferable for those who need easy one handed access, but for my uses this works perfectly.

Amazing! No plastic involved and this cap doesn't leak at all! The plastic ones were not always so reliable and everything in my bag got soaked a few too many times. Really happy with this cap though - it clanks and squeaks a bit (going on and coming off) but other than that - absolutely perfect! Is also MUCH easier to take off than the plastic caps when screwed on really tight. Felt like I almost broke my wrists trying to get the plastic cap off!

In comparison to the plastic Klean Kanteen caps, this is much more stylish, easier to clean and most importantly, prevents the water in the bottle from acquiring that horrible plasticky taste and smell.The swing handle is a bonus and makes unscrewing the cap a lot easier.The only downside is that the cap steel rubs considerably against the bottle steel dependent on how you hold it, making a scrapey/screechy noise that is a bit annoying when in quiet situations such as lectures or meetings.However, I still love the cap and would recommend it to Klean Kanteen users.

Had the sports cap for my bottle prior to getting this and I never liked it much. The bamboo lid was more expensive than the black plastic one but looks better and save the planet and all that.

Fits the standard neck klean kanteen bottle I have - screws on tightly and doesn't leak.

Much better than the difficult to clean plastic sporty top.looking forward to no tummy upsets and easy cleans..and admiring stares.i thought the price was a little scary though.

A cover that is beautiful and looks brand The street out with its bamboo top. Fit simple just like I want a locl to be. Can really recomend this.

Title says it all. I wanted a stainless steel cap, no plastic. This does the job without leaking, while adding a convenient carrying loop, and happens to be a beautiful design too.Some have complained about how easily the bamboo is damaged. I guess it depends how you use it. I use my bottle at the gym and throughout my day at work and around home to monitor my water intake, so it will be fine for that. When I want to go to the beach or pool or camping, I'll swap back to the plastic cap or get the other stainless steel cap for that. And I will wipe the bamboo cap clean without immersing it in the kitchen sink to soak.Others have complained about the nails on a chalkboard sound of screwing stainless steel against stainless steel. I'm hypersensitive about irritating sounds that don't seem to bother anyone else, but this cap didn't bother me.

Great cap, bought it for a bottle I purchased as a souvenir in South Africa with lions, which unfortunately came with a black sports cap (love the bottle, hate the sports cap), so I replaced it with this bamboo cap. Fits perfectly & looks awesome. I wish it would be available for purchase also in stores that sell these kind of aluminium bottles, and that more bottles would already come with this cap instead of the plastic version.

Have had it for 5+ years and the wood is a little greyer but otherwise looks good!The metal semicircle handle can detach from the body, which can lead to watching your water bottle tumble very far down a long slope you just ski-toured up.. Don't trust it! :#

Great lid. The design of this lid is perfect. I love it and it upgrades the bottle from the plastic lid. I had been extremely disappointed withy new Kanteen initially because it had a horrible oil taste that I could not get rid of no matter what. The water inside would pick up the taste as well and it was like drinking chain oil laden water. I contacted Klean Kanteen about this and they offered a replacement plastic lid, but I have found that they all seem to carry that oil smell. This lid fixed the problem. I am disappointed in Klean Kanteen for having such low standards on a product used mostly by consumers wanting to be more health conscious and I have read many other complaints about this by other consumers.

I have two. The one that came with the bottle is great, so I bought a second cap for another bottle that had a plastic lid. Unfortunately this one has a gap between the bamboo and stainless steel that makes it rough on my hand. I was still using the other bottle so I didn't notice until after the return period.

Habe ich zu einer Flasche dazu bestellt damit diese auslaufsicher ist. Das ist einfach unabdingbar für den Schulranzen. Der Verschluss ist leider sehr laut beim öffnen und schließen aber das nehmen wir einfach mal in Kauf beim Verzicht auf Plastik. Der Preis ist allerdings unverschämt.
