Great book and has a ton of good information

The best wig guide for the serious wigmaker out there!!!!

The first half of this book is in depth look at how to plan, block, and ventilate a wig, make wefts, and even talks about creating facial hair and side burns. for my purposes this is where the book was the strongest. However when it comes to the actual styling section I found the book to be lackluster. It shows a style from a handful of years - mostly post 1920 - and how to achieve them but doesn't give a lot of information about creating your own styles. Additionally there is very little info on how to create stable, comfortable bases for sculpted wigs - despite showing styles the require frames "set at the correct angle" (what is the correct angle?). This was a disappointment to me as attaching frames to wigs was something I was hoping this book would cover.Additionally, this book doesn't really discuss acrylic wigs, aside from mentioning their existence. As I'd seen this mentioned as a "must have" for theatre costumers I assumed there would be a little more information on restyling cheap wigs for those of us who don't have the budget for the real thing. The last section of the book gives a bit of information on how to put on a wig, including tidbits on how to attach wigs to short or bald hair. Bizarrely it doesn't discuss how to attach faux facial hair despite detailing how to create it in an earlier chapter. This review probably sounds more negative than the book deserves -- in large part due to the book not being what *I* expected. It will still be going on my bookshelf, however. The information on how to actually make a wig is fantastic and worth the price of the book. However, if you are interested in an in depth look at wig styling -- particularly for highly structured wigs or restyling information for those on a budget I'd give this book a solid meh.

Très illustré et bonnes explications. Prise d'empreinte pour perruques/barbes/moustaches, fabrication d'une monture/bonnet, méthode d'implantation, tous les outils nécessaires pour la fabrication, création de weft et de postiches, exemple de coiffures avec mise en plus, divers façons de faire une prépa perruques. Tout est illustré pas à pas . Selon moi ce livre ne dispense pas d'une formation mais il est un excellent support d'apprentissage pour les débutants ou autodidactes et d'infos/methodes pour les plus confirmés . Il manque à mon goût plus d'exemple pour créer des bonnets mais dans l'ensemble ce livre est très complet.

Perfect for someone who is already in the industry and wants to expand the knowledge in wig making and dressing, or for those who are new to the wigs making and want to start this journey. Lots of tips and tricks of the industry. Perfcetly explained list of products that you would need in irder to start.

It’s a good book which walks you through the process of wig making with notes about the various differences between the needs film/tv and theatre. Sections included touch on hair prep before wig application; taking measurements; creating your cling film mould; and types of hair as well as making facial hair and how to care for your creations. If you are a novice it is a great introduction. If you work in film/tv as I do it is a damn good reference book to keep on hand. My only complaint has nothing to do with the the knowledge therein, rather, it is about the condition of the book as I received it. I admit I like my books to be pristine, I am a bit of a stickler in that regard. The book I received had a couple of small cover tears; crushed corners; and black smears on the cover. My initial feeling was that the book was used though it was listed as new. Upon further inspection I realised only the cover was cracked as the rest of the pages looked pristine (with a couple of notable exceptions). Not wishing to go through another return process I talked myself into erring for of my OC.
