One of the great debut albums
This album should go down in history as one of the great debut albums. I initially thought that Electric Six were just a two-hit wonder band, - with “Danger, High Voltage” and “Gay Bar” until I went to see them live, - then realising that there is a lot more to them - all of the songs on this album are great and when seen and heard live really put them into perspective. Dick Valentine is a great front man and can certainly write a catchy number, or two, three and more.Like many bands and artists they deserve far greater recognition than they get, - the week after seeing them I saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers and could help but find comparison, - both refuse to be pigeon holed by one specific musical style, - they both blend rock, disco, a bit of jazz with superb hooks that stay in your head, - combine that we both being visually interesting and I cannot help but question the vast difference between each bands success. Perhaps being under the radar with niche following of clearly dedicated fans is what Dick is after. If you are thinking of buying an Electric Six album this is the first one to get, but don’t stop there, - go see them live and extend your collection.

FIRE IN THE DISCO!!!
This album (and band) has been described as gimmicky and just plain rubbish but I disagree. I wouldn't call myself a fan by a long shot. I've only ever heard Dance Commander, Danger! High Voltage and Gay Bar but after a friend of mine saw them play at Y NOT Festival in Derbyshire he said the gig was unbelievably hectic (in a good way) and people were going mad for them. As a result of the feedback from my friend we're going to see them when they come to Manchester and I have high hopes. Overall the album is really good, I enjoyed it a lot. There are a lot of good riffs, the drums have a really good sound to them and the songs are really catchy. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is considering giving them a listen and to anyone who hasn't heard them before I personally would take a gamble.

Unadulterated FUN!
I bought this album after seeing the Video to "Danger! High Voltage" whilst flicking around on the satellite. I was instantly hooked by that song's tongue in cheek nature and musicianship. I decided to buy the album with it on and I found out that Electric Six had also been responsible for "Gay Bar"I then listened to the whole album and I found that there were treasures all over it from "She's White" "Naked Pictures (of your mother)" "Synthesiser" and in fact none of the tracks were poor. I lent this to my brother and his 14 year old son wouldn't give it back for a year as he liked it so much! All in all a great album with some of the campest lyrics you will ever come across plus some great tunes to boot
