Loved the show at the Brooklyn Museum and the book!!

It did not come with the Dior gray box as mentioned in the description.

Loved the stories and I sights. Very interesting and comprehensive

superbly written and well reported, unique from ALL the other Dior books... it's in a class by itself!!! This book is simply the most compelling fashion biography I have read in a very long time. First off-- there is a TROVE of new and unique photos--- Olivia De Havilland, Ava Gardner, Lauren Bacall... in their Dior frocks... The picture of Dior with Ava is behind the scenes, probably a fitting....There are so many sharp observations from the women who worked for Dior, the sales women, the p.r. people, who could talk about the process, the clients... -- specific eye-level detail that takes you rght inside the atelier. There is a sense of place and time-- you are there in this book!!!! I received this book as a gift and I am half way through. Blown away! The writing is lively and arch... it is fun to read.... So many specifics... and the people she quotes throughout are heavy hitters.... Pierre Cardin!!! (who was largely responsible in his work on Dior's famous Bar suit), John Fairchild,, Givenchy himself...and the list of authorities goes on and on...this is scholarship at it's finest...do NOT miss this one!!!

This book is wrapped in silver tissue paper in a beautiful Dior grey box. That's the only positive thing to say about this book. I was very disappointed. The book is small and all the images inside have already been published in other books and their quality is not worth the price. So there is really no never-before-seen materials in this book. I would not recommend buying this book. There are several other books much more interesting on Christian Dior including another book by the same author: Dior Glamour

This book is a must for any lover of fashion! The author had access to such an amazing array of interesting people who knew Monsieur Dior and understood his place in fashion history. Fraser-Cavassoni also put the book together in a way that gives the reader an intimate understanding of Christian Dior and captures his impact on fashion. The photos and illustrations are also beautiful and unique. I've never seen many of them before--including the photos of Dior's order books and many of the personal photos of Dior in the cabine with models, fitting clients, or with friends like the artist and illustrator Christian Bérard or the artist Salvador Dalí. You see Dior's childhood photos, his garden, his clients, his fashion shows, his assistants, his office, his funeral--it is encyclopedic and yet it feels so personal. This book is a jewel!

Very disappointing. I agree with another reviewer that stated that the best thing about the book is the packaging. I will be turning it. Overpriced for grainy black and white photos most of which I've seen before.

The perfect gift. A beautiful presentation with previously unreleased photographs from the Dior archives and various clients. A must for anyone interested in the history of fashion and society. His designs are totally relevant today! Informative text and great production values.

When there are literally dozens of books on Christian Dior what is there new to say, or discover. This book achieves that through a careful use of facts, anecdotes and brilliant writing to bring Monsieur Dior to life and to give us a narrative and portrait which is amongst the very best available. Plus in its exquisite format and packaging it looks and feels like a Dior book. Buy it.
