Fallout 76: Official Guide

My husband's new obsession
With the release of Fallout 76 this week, I knew my husband would be distracted (happy but distracted) with his new game. He has been working really hard lately, so it was great he could take a day off on the release date to play his game and enjoy some playing time. I got him this book as a gift to celebrate his day off, and he was very happy. The book has great maps, stories, and ideas to enhance the game. Hubby is happy (though I think I am not going to see much of him in the next few days).

Good Companion but not needed.
This is a well put together book, much like the Fallout 4 guide. It is not as in depth as I would like, as the old Fallout 3 guide was, but it works. But I do want to point out that the book is really not needed as much. I say this because the game is only online. This means the game is going to change, things are going to get added. I will also point out the magazines and bobbleheads are no longer lasting effects but timed effects. So finding them all is not as important. There is not branching story lines or key choices, all the quests are very liner. The quest guide in the book is also very basic and really just acts as a quick summary. All in all the book is nice, not perfect. It is also not really needed and only recommended for someone that wants all things fallout.

Not very helpful
Most of this "guide" was learned in the first couple week without it. I played the beta and by the time this arrived on release day I knew every bit of the important info and more. It doesn't offer answers to questions like locations to any items or materials which is probably the most important of them all. It will walk you through some quests (vaguely) and it has a cool map, that's about all it's good for to be honest. I've used the map a handful of times and the 2 other I attempted to use it for questing but it was too vague. Paid $50 for the hardcover too. Would have been worth it had it released when the BETA started, or before, so I could have learned a bit in the off days. Otherwise it's kinda useless, sadly.

Incomplete
It's missing a LOT of information - for instance it doesn't list two of the later game types of Power Armor (namely the X-01, and one other I can't recall the name of, that is new to the game). It's a nice looking guide though, as I've come to expect from the publisher.

Not a manual like the best classic games offered, still as cool as one.
Fallout classic came with a guide book, spiral bound, explaining how to play and how to build the special system character. This was more commonly referred to as a game manual, but interplay got it right for their masterpiece. This is the next best thing to that standard to which only the best classic games adhered.Although this game is constantly being improved and therefore the info we see in the book has only limited usefulness, the value of this is in both archival and in being able to fully experience the depth of a gaming setting. I’ve already used the book several times to understand elements of the later game so I can build my level up skills and decisions, as well as find a few pieces of directions while exploring side quest content.

It's Fallout - got it's good and bad
I love Fallout - been playing for years. I really don't play on-line multi-player games but with the next single player Fallout not expected to 2020 and despite the negative reviews I decided to give Fallout 76 a go. Glad I did. Don't get me wrong it has flaws but all the negative - let's just say I love playing the Fallout games and if this is the only game in town - go for it.Pro's.The environment is great. If previous Fallout's have left you expecting something gray and dead - this is not the game for you. If you over look the weird wild life - think Japan today - gee the even have green trees where the bombs were dopped. You have geen - you have trees. You have life. The workd is large and varied. Lots to see and learn. Love it.The perk program is unique and pretty neat once you get the hang of it.Most of the weapons and stuff from previous games are in Fallout 76. The feel is Fallout 4 with a bit extra.Cons.The serveres suck! Nothing like playing for hours and just when you are about to reach your goal - server kicks you out. Way go to Bethesda Net (not). But since this the only way to play the game - play it and live with it until we can get to the next single player Fallout (or they have a professional on-line server setup like Steam handle it for them).Wood: You need wood to make any food - really, I have never actually cooked wih wood. But what is intersting is you are in a forest of trees but can only get wood from "dead" trees. Guess they don't want us to "chop" the existing trees down - guess that would be bad for the irridated environment. So - long and short of it - if you love Fallout games and want to try something new - try Fallout 76. It is worth the cost in my humble opinion.

Damaged
This is the second one I ordered and both of them came with the corners damaged, I am not going to return this a third time, I just wish they had packaged it better... as for the book itself I love it... it's really fun to look through and the map is really cool!

A terrible guide
This is quite possible the WORST strategy guide I have ever bought and thus forced me to send back after a day.Want stats on power armor and weapons? It's here. Want to know how to get them?? It's not. Got those treasure maps? Want to know where to go? Better get online as not in this guide. Just a pic of them, which is also in the game! Not to mention a lot of the quests are missing too. This is clearly based on the BETA and not the full game. This guide has a ton of content that's in game already and images of bases you can build as tiny images with no guides how to actually build them like in the images. Had to goto YouTube to know how to do half the stuff in this guide. The quests guide just repeat what the game does and doesn't give you an in depth guide of how to do them so again had to goto YouTube for a guide on a quest I was stuck on. The saving grace of this guide and only good point was the in depth look at what cards you can from levelling. But this can easily be found online. Save your money and just get solutions online. 90% of this book is in depth maps however its so hard to actually read there's no point to them.

Concise, but with some inaccuracies
Having received Fallout 76 for Christmas, I wanted to make the most of it, especially given what I'd heard from early adopters of it.The guide itself is extensive, including information on Quests, Side Missions, Random Encounters and so on. There is an inventory of all Junk items in the game (including their subordinate components) and of course Weapons, Armour and Apparel. Maps (plus local maps not found in the game) are contained in their own chapter too.You can find character classes created by the authors, that specialise in Stealth, Medical, Attack, Tank etc based on perks you pick while leveling up: very helpful for first time players like me.The information is presented in an attractive and heavy book, with a full colour pages and a complete index for tracking down whatever it is you're looking for.I remember reading somewhere that this guide was assembled during the Beta testing stages however, and there are some inaccuracies I have found, notably some of the Perk bonuses, the location of a few items I've looked for, that kind of thing. Nothing game-breaking, but enough that I needed to check Google every now and then. There are also some sections of the game that are not at all mentioned in the guide, which I would again attribute to when the guide was compiled - the authors have no control over this, so it's forgivable to me.The maps and the Quest hints are more than enough to get you through the game, like me. I like to play through a game first, and not just read my way through with walkthroughs, so I skipped over the quest information the first time, unless I got really stuck. What is not here is a full list of the weapon mods you can construct and use, but there are thousands of them, so this is not really viable anyway. All told, I'm pleased with the guide, and it has made the game more enjoyable when I've needed to check something.

Good quality
As always these guides are very good. Very comprehensive, as up to date as they can be when published but do offer an online link to obtain latest updates. Not worth getting hardback but this. I recommend it for beginners and seasoned players.

I love fallout
I ordered this on the day the game launched. I felt a bit overwhelmed. The book has been very helpful, it's extremely comprehensive, and has loads of info I have not even needed yet a few weeks later! I can see this is going to be very useful. Also, if you just want a nice fallout book to read, it's an attractive hardback with tons of info. It's lovely, you should totally get one if you like fallout even a little bit.

Fantastic Fallout
Fantastic Book for Fallout 76. It's heavy, thick and full of easy to find information. It also comes with a huge pull out area map poster again packed with location info and highlights for the area. This was a gift and was really well received! The poster is on their game room wall framed.Highly recommended.
