My third and fourth graders were captured.
I read this engaging book to my multi-age grade 3-4 class recently over a period of several days, and they were engrossed from start to finish. Full of fresh information for upper elementary readers unfamiliar with what it was like to immigrate to the United States from Asia in the 1930's, the book is based on a true life experience and carefully researched. Generously sized illustrations sensitive to the story enliven the text, and make it suitable for reading aloud to a whole class as well. The book is handsomely put together and printed on heavy stock. Truth in advertising: I am the author's uncle, and a teacher with 39 years of experience.
