The Wizards of Once

This book is one fun adventure. I'm 40. My kids haven't read this yet and I'm quietly savoring it just for myself.I just want to give a shout out to the author. I love that you use David Tenant as your narrator for the Audible book. I especially love that you have him say that "Time Travel isn't possible....Probably". For those of you that don't know., David Tenant played a Doctor on Doctor Who (a Time Traveling character). It's hysterical to hear him say those words. Cressida, brilliant genius that she is, knew he would probably narrate these books (since he did her previous series) and I believe she put that Easter Egg in there for us.Just fun! I'm still laughing at the joke. Thanks for that!

Cressida Cowell has done it again! With her unparalleled ability to fully develop a character in three sentences and give us a peek into the heart of our Heroes (complete with quirky illustrations), she has delivered a story that uplifts, inspires and touches the heart of magic in all of us. Each chapter is full of quotable gems, moral dilemmas and resolutions that challenge us all to stop and remember that being creative is a deliberate and conscious way of expressing in the world and that being destructive is way too easy. The perfect allegory for modern times and an enthralling and hard-to-put-down book. We ALL loved it and couldn't wait until story time every evening to read.... Can't wait until the next one!!!

Cressida Cowell's How to Train Your Dragon series remains one of my favorite middle grade series. So, I was excited to read her new series, The Wizards of Once. I finally got around to reading this first book aloud to my kids and we all loved it. It has a great message about overcoming difficulties, but more importantly about family's accepting us as we are even if we're different. It will be interesting to see where the series goes from here. We're planning to jump right into the second book soon.

Granted, my 4th grader is not the best reader, but he found this one a bit too challenging to get into. I plan to give it to him later in the school year or over the summer. It seem super interesting and once he is up for the challenge, I believe this will be a good option.

My son loved this book. I'm sort of sorry that this isn't a series. Highly entertaining, well written, engaging characters.

It was like Christmas morning when this book arrived in the mail! We are huge, huge fans of Cressida Cowell and have read the How to Train Your Dragon series, over and over again. This book is just as wonderful! The first book in a series is the basis for setting up a great tale that unfolds in each subsequent book and this holds the promise of more amazing adventures to come with all new characters and a new world of wizards and warriors and magic! We cannot wait for the next one! Thank you for bringing our family such joy!

My 10-year-old is an avid reader and loved the "How To Train Your Dragon" series by the same author. She also loves books like the Wings of Fire series. She did enjoy the first Harry Potter, but the others are a little too dark for her liking, so she's put those on hold until she's older. Wizards of Once, however, was right up her alley, and she was thoroughly addicted to reading it, ranking it up there with her favorites. She hopes there will be more books and that this becomes a series.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book. It's a wonderful tale and captured my daughter's attention immediately. We read the book along with the Audible, narrated by David Tennant. I highly recommend the same. David Tennant brings it to life as your reader follows along. The pictures also add so much to the story.

Good story and easy to read

Absolutamente genial, mis hijos (7 y 8 años) aman esta serie de libros. Magia, peligro, aventura, risas, personajes fantásticos, ¿qué más puedes pedir? ¡Ya queremos leer el cuarto libro y saber el desenlace de la historia!

Comprei esse livro com o intuito de estudar a língua inglesa. Por mais que possa ser considerado um livro de literatura infantil, ele é muito bem escrito e apresenta temas muito importantes quando trazidos para nossa realidade, como a relação de pais e filhos, confiança e amizade. Cressida Cowell não deixou nem um pouco a desejar com essa nova série, continua uma boa escrita assim como nos seus livros anteriores e cativante a cada capítulo. A qualidade gráfica pode ser estranha no começo para os padrões brasileiros de impressão, mas é uma linda edição e vale CADA CENTAVO.
