The radio has AM, FM and Bluetooth. It also has a USB connection on the back. (I use it to charge my phone) It also has AUX input and outputs on the back.

Does the radio provide external FM antenna connection?

Yes, mine has both AM and FM antenna connections on the back.

What's the difference between this item and the sangean wr-16 am/fm/bluetooth wooden cabinet radio? other than price/size.

I believe the item in this picture IS the WR-16. The similar WR-11 models seem to lack both Aux and Bluetooth features.

Can I hook up a small additional small speaker to the auxiliary jack

No, the auxiliary jack is for input. What you could do is plug speakers into the headphone jack, although this would cut out the main speaker inside the radio. I would think there are auxiliary speakers available for this purpose, but keep in mind this radio isn't stereo, therefore there is no right or left separation.
