DFRobot Starter Kit for Arduino with 15 Project Tutorials

I am a beginner at working with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Got this set to add to what I already have. I first made the mistake of thinking I could just buy parts separately for each product, but quickly realized how much of a pain that is. I wish I had started with this kit. I was impressed by the variety and quality of the products included. Really is an excellent starter kit. Would recommend for anyone just starting out.

After a lot of research I purchased this kit as a gift for my 7th grade son. The combination of the components, the packaging and the documentation make this one of the best beginner kits. The DFRobot website (http://dfrobot.com) is extremely well put together with details of all of the components. The site has a product Wiki that supplements the included documentation that is easily accessible from the product page. Each component has an associated experiment that introduces the user to Arduino concepts in an accessible and fun way. This kit essentially implements Arduino/Electronics/Micro-controllers "by numbers" in a great quality package (see painting by numbers).The box is not large or bulky but big enough such that all the components can be easily placed back inside, even with assembled or partially completed projects on the breadboard and Arduino. There is a little room to grow as well. Each of the small pieces has an individual, well labeled, plastic bag so that components can be easily kept organized, a must for younger beginners.I also purchased a larger kit from another vendor for myself to use and to get the additional modules/components. Although that kit has more stuff and was a good bargain, at this point, I regret not paying a little more for the larger DFRobot kit."I always wanted to learn about Arduino and this kit has helped a lot" - the happy recipient of this awesome kit.I am surprised that there are not more reviews for this kit on Amazon. I will be purchasing more DFRobot gear.

The kit arrives with electronic components and wiring diagrams. There is no written documentation on programming to use the circuit board. If you do a Google search, and know what you're looking for, you can download the IDE. The IDE comes with the code for many sample projects, but none of the wiring diagrams. Again, you have to search Google to find the source code that matches the wiring diagrams included with the kit.So, once you've spent a day or so getting this far, the projects start to work...UNTIL you get to the remote control projects. The source code for the remote control projects you can find on the web are obsolete; they no longer work. The remote control projects included with the IDE have no wiring diagrams, and the code is extremely complex so figuring out which wires and pins to connect requires more than my bachelor's degree in computer science.I bought this for our son's birthday because he has an interest in software development and robotics. I think this kit served to give him interest in other things that he actually can accomplish, after receiving lessons in futility.

This is a pretty good quality kit, the project box is a nice touch to keep things organized. There is a shield included and the part pouches are very well marked. I'm surprised this isn't promoted more by Amazon as it far surpasses many of the higher choices returned by searches here. The flash cards are nice for quick references, the breadboard is of medium quality. The only cons I have found is a) some of the LEDs were dead on arrival and b) the project instructions are web pages on the Dfrobot website, which require opening each link and saving as PDF - a single PDF project download would be very nice - otherwise, a 5 star product.Overall, you will be hard pressed to find a better quality kit for the price, good projects, easily comprehended for even 4th grade level education, yet interesting enough for anyone of any age as a solid introduction to Arduino's and I/O programming.

This is my first arduino set and I dont have a ton to compare it to but I ahve to say this is a very nice kit. The quality of the box and materials is great and the easy to read directions for all the different projects, allows for easy learning and using. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get into arduino or any parents looking for a good present for a younger child.

This is the best kit for a beginner. Once you go to the website and download the code you have all that you need. The flash cards are very helpful and the packaging of each component is perfect!

The orange boxes all arrived broken, although the kit works amazingly for my CS class I have to find new containers for them.
