Can this be used with just batteries (hands free)

It has a rechargeable battery just like a mobile phone. So just keep it charged up

Should the radio flash in red while on? it initially flashed in blue, but then changed to red. why has the colour changed? does it indicate an issue?

The light goes red when it’s low on battery. Unfortunately this radio needs to be charged, I use mine every day all day for my budgies so I just leave it plugged in all day on charge whilst it’s playing. Blue light just shows it’s on I believe but yeah red light normal indicates it’s low battery. Hope this helps x

Hi there, yes it can be used while charging. The worst thing is its comes with a pathetically short cable. Fortunately the cable I use with my Kindle fits the charging point on the back. Happy listening.
