ok radio, poor operator controls
I added some picts showing a real belt clip I made. radio works good but is very hard to do any controlling from the front panel. the knobs cannot be set to be vol and sql except by button pushes (not marked) on the panel and go back to always being some other function when done changing. go to Ham Radio Outlet if you want one $229.95 there. get the RT systems programming cable and software. there cable plugs into the radio not into other cables and adapters you have to buy like the alnico one. also there are errors in the instruction book (just minor). it comes with a belt loop (they call it a clip) canvas and plastic hang it from you belt thing not clip it on your belt. It is hard to get programmed even with the good software as there are several different types of memories. and a lot of space in them. if you put the info in the wrong memory type it wont show up when you want it. it is extremely hard to get used to recalling memories as it takes more key strokes to recall a memory slot than it would have to put all the info in to go directly to the frequency you wanted. very poor user interface.. I have one but would not buy again. give me a simple radio with just a few easily recalled memories.

No belt clip, poor backlight, bad transmission
I love my Alinco DJ-MD5, but this DJ-G7 is one of the worst excuses for a radio I have ever seen and that is a lot considering I own over 30 handheld radios. The backlight might as well not be there at all, the belt clip (what belt clip?) doesn't exist and can not be purchased as they don't make one (no I am not making that up), the spectrum this thing transmits is just plain terrible and power on 2m is just almost not even there. Do yourself a favor, save your money and buy just about any radio other than this. No kidding, I like my Baofeng F8+ and 9R+ FAR better than this thing. That's right, a $30 radio beats this thing hands down, no comparison. The only thing this radio has going for it is that it look cool. If that's your primary concern, spend the money.

Japan model, which covers much narrower bands as they use in Japan and cannot be freebanded. Support was not forthcoming with a local firmware image or instructions.
