Review approx 2 years on
We're a family of 4 with a Vermibag mini up and running in our basement for the best part of 2 years. It's construction is excellent and has been the very best of the "worm farm" systems we've tried with no mass escapes (aka dead dry worms all over the floor) and as close to a set it and forget it system as we've found. Basically a garden tray under it to catch the odd drip. Some bubble wrap laid directly on top of the food waste (under the zip up lid) to trap in moisture and a piece of cardboard placed on top of the lid to minimize light entry and maximize worm feeding activity. We collect food waste in a tight sealing pint container kept on the kitchen counter and then just add it to the top of the pile in the vermibag and let the worms have at it. Occasionally we also add a couple of cup fulls of shredded cardboard. The worms seem to like that. We get the occasional hatch of moths in the bag, carried in on some fruit or veg, but the zip on lid starts them from getting out at will and flying all over the basement. Avoiding the months is as simple as freezing the food before you put it in the vermibag. That kills any eggs and larva. The bag does indeed generate high quality worm compost. Likely not as much as you are expecting but it is potent and easily harvested from the bottom of the bag. Our vegetables love it. For us it has consistently emerged as relatively dry compost from the bag.We loved our mini so much we got carried away and purchased the much larger Vermibag Max about 6 months later. It is as well built as the mini but massive. Actually too large for a family of 4 to feed fast enough to keep the moisture level in the bag in range for the worms to stay happy. Today we use our Max to store the output from our Mini over the winter so that come spring we have a max load (pun intended) of worm castings to place into our raised beds. Stacking plastic totes would work just as well for this and potentially better. We have had no odor issues with our Vermibags. We do not recommend placing them outside. The fabric they are made of is heavy duty but would not stop any animal tempted by the contents. In addition it is easy to imagine the contents being cooked by strong sunlight or frozen by a few days of freezing temperatures. We could see a Mini being kept in a kitchen, heated garage or basement. They look nice enough and stay clean enough to work in a visible location.Would we buy one again? Hopefully we'll never have to but if something happened to the one we have a new one would be at the top of our list for a replacement indoor composting system.Ours is hung from a framework of PVC pipe arranged exactly as recommended by the bags designer. This setup was cheap and works really well.We have absolutely no form of affiliation with the manufacturer of Vermibags and have received no form of compensation or reward for this review, which is provided entirely voluntarily.

Excellent construction. Easy set up.
Excellent construction. I like that I pay for the part I can't make (the vermibag) and they don't charge for the part I can easily make myself (the frame) and instead include clear instructions. Was able to get it up and running same afternoon I received it.

Very pleased
After running one of these bags for a month to compare it against the UWB, I decided to get a second one to move my combined ENC and wiggled bin into. No more plastic totes for me.
