Mounted Incorrectly destroys bearings
This fan always operated really loudly, and after 1 year stopped working completely due to badly worn bearings. I took it to a mechanic and he explained that some fans are designed to run in the horizontal position, NOT the vertical position as the housing of this fan is mounted.I had to home make a frame to accept the housing in the horizontal position, and now it runs quietly and happily. Basically, the way this fan is mounted, has it set up to self destruct the bearings.

The fan is great. Plenty big for my 5x5 tent
The fan is great. Plenty big for my 5x5 tent. Its loud but you need a higher priced unit to be quieter. Moves plenty of air for my application. I paired it with a 3amp Variac speed controller found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006NGI8VS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1MJXBMMDKYADG. The carbon filter pre-filter was dirty upon arrival due to its ziplock storage bag being opened in the filter box so it was covered with coal dust but a quick wash fixed it right up. This unit is 24" inches long and heavy. Be sure to take this into account if you plan to hang it from your tent frame. Also be sure to blow it out or connect it directly to the fan first if using with a cool tube or hood because there will be loose charcoal and it can potentially rattle down the line and shatter a bulb. All-in-all I'm happy with this buy. Only time will tell if the fan will last but as long as you don't use a cheap speed controller and keep it lubed with some lithium you should be ok.

Great Product Package that works well at a low cost
Bought this for my 8x8 grow tent as I was worried about humidity and mold and the smell that my Poinsettia plants produces. Just in a few hours the overwhelming smell is gone and let me tell you, Sinus problems never entered my mind when I got everyone's Old Poinsettia plants after Christmas! Now I can give them back this Holiday season as Gifts!

Awesome fan and filter... Great quality and not too lound... Go ahead and buy it.
Fan and filter are so awesome and a great deal for the money. The sound is not so bad either. Basically the Wooosh sound is as loud as the fan itself. Very happy with the purchase and it is oversized for my 400 watt setup but plan on moving up soon. I was prompted to pull the trigger when I saw the Ven Tech combo kit with the fan speed controller that I had been looking at is no longer available. Would buy another in a heart beat.

does what it says it does
will remove any smell just make sure you get a fan controller with it a speed controller I mean depending on the size that you are venting you may not need to have it that high and if you set it too high will not scrub the air properly so make sure that you set it accordingly great product great price

Good system with a few issues...
So far fan is amazing but be warned it does not come with mounting screws. We bought 1/4 thick 3 inch lag screws to mount. It will blow a lot of loose charcoal when you first turn it on. We bought a 6.25 inch ducting flex ducting pipe which slipped over the fan easy but we had to cut tap and man handle it on the filter so be prepared. When we did turn it on once hook up we were still very happy.

Filter works great but the fan I received only worked well for bout 2 months. Now it squeaks and is very annoying. I do not expect it will last another 2 months but will run it till it dies. Silly me did not read the fine print stating not for use in enclosed areas (tent) so I suspect the warranty is void. I would highly recommend getting a decent fan and get the filter separately.

price and performance are great. Volume.... not so much
Price is right, and product does move a lot of air, but I also got one that worked fine for a month, then started making VERY loud sounds. It randomly squeaks and is generally loud enough that I can hear it louder than my air conditioner right now sitting on my sofa, and the fan is 3 rooms away, through a door and 2 walls lolWill be investigating a replacement.

This performs better then I would expect for the money
This performs better then I would expect for the money.I have it running right now on a speed controller and I can hear the exhaust whoosh more then the turbine. You get what you PAY FOR PEOPLE!At full bore it is much too strong for my 105 ft3. It will bend the bars of a secret jardin. No odor what so ever. And the cfm rating is good between the two parts. They don't over/under power each other.Happy customer. Is it a 1000$ fan? No. But I also don't compare it to a brushless snake. Its a freaking good scrubber for any room under 400 ft3 for 200 bucks.

This fan and filter are awesome. I highly recommend buying a speed controller for the fan. I recommend what ever Fan you buy. That you have a controller for it to prolong the life of the fan and limit the noise. That said this is a very quiet fan and is built solid. With metal blades and a solid metal construction. It’s heavy and you can feel when you pick it up That it is not cheap. It works awesome and has now since I bought it over three months ago just thought I would check in with the review I highly recommend it

Good Fan and Filter
This item does what it is intended to do.Not hard to put up, just make sure you have the mounting bracket is mounted properly with the wider part towards the wider end of the fan.I read one had problems with loose charcoal blowing out when he fired it up. Be smart and vacuum out the little bit of loose charcoal that has been sitting inside the filter before you hook things together. Fan is a tad on the noisy side, but that is to be expected with a fan of this RPM's. If you don't want the noise so high, then buy a fan control with this unit....

Great fan, really powerful
Strong fan! It is a little loud so pick up a fan controller. Cant beat the price (when they go on sale $129)12 months in and its still blowing great. Some people are having issues with noise after 3 months. I did see a video on youtube about greasing the bearing, not sure if that can help you all.

At first glance everything seemed fine. But after a few weeks use the fan had a very loud whining/thumping as if it is off balance. It's very loud you can hear it through the whole house on both levels. The carbon filter does absolutely nothing for smell. It looks fine but it did not remove smell whatsoever which is what I bought it for.Update 15/09/2016--Seller has honored 1 year warranty and is sending a replacement item. They were very quick to resolve the problem, as for the replacement product I will update on its performance once received.
