Do you need internet at all for these like leap frog?

No. With the exception of batteries for the interactive pen, everything you need comes in the set.

Does this pen work with the higher level books or do I have to buy a new pen each time they move up a level?

My daughter is just about done with preschool, I just discovered hot dots. should i get the prek reading/math or kindergarten reading/math?

I would go for the Kindergarten. It will grow with her.

I bought this product about a month ago. This product is saying that everything is correct even if it is wrong. Why is that happening?

Try popping in new batteries, and flip the switches around. It should be green for any correct and answer and red for any incorrect. If it isn't working correctly return it.
