With the previous hardware in my bathroom, the TP roll, along with the spring loaded TP roll holder, would would fall off with use. So annoying! I didn’t want to put more holes in the wall by moving the wall-mounted pieces so I looked for a longer bar and ordered this. It is definitely not 7 or 8 inches as reported. It’s 6 and 5/8ths. Before ordering, I measured to get the length needed and knew I didn’t need much longer than what I already had, so this isn’t a negative for me - just not as listed. The weight feels pretty substantial to me, and it fits perfectly for what I need.

The description says this replacement toilet paper holder can hold up to 8 inches. The person measuring this has to be a guy (whose wife is also probably being LIED TO) because that’s NOT 8 inches. The holder will stretch to 8 inches (grower, not a shower?) but the spring stays in a “loaded” or “ready” position (with appropriate tension to DO ITS JOB) at 6 3/8 inches. When I say “stretch”, I mean I can manually pull it apart until just before a gap shows and it’ll “reach” 8 inches. It won’t stay there because the spring is no longer under tension at this point. That’s not useful AT ALL when the entire mechanism of action relies on the spring staying loaded with tension. I needed at least 7 1/2 inches (that’s what she said) because the previous homeowner installed the two brackets too far apart and they drilled through the tile to do it. If I move either side closer to the other, I’ll have an exposed hole (hehehe) from the previous placement. This product is absolutely WORTHLESS if the brackets are more than 6 3/8 inches apart. I picked this— and paid 4 times the amount of a “normal-sized” toilet paper holder—because it’s advertised as “extra long.” I’m not sure in what part of the world this counts as “extra long”, but I’m sure you have a “great personality” to make up for your *ahem* short comings. Yes, I’m a guy and yes I have the humor of a 12-year-old.

Can't speak to the people complaining that it was too short because I don't have an extra widely spaced toilet paper holder, but this roller fit my standard size toilet paper holder fine.The roller is so much nicer than the junky plastic holder it replaced and well worth the few extra dollars it cost over plastic or chrome coated plastic. The roller is also skinnier than the plastic holder it replaced and I was concerned that might make the toilet paper roll awkwardly, but that hasn't been a problem.

This is NOT 8.5 inches like it says. It is standard. We improvised and made it work anyways because we couldn't find anything longer. It works fine other than not being the length it says.

I swapped the toilet paper holder to chrome to match all other chrome and in doing so the one I purchased from home D was too short , yes go figure and I have tile so no redrilling , parched this and it’s very nice and perfect!Same nice chrome as the rest , perfect .

I needed a longer replacement rod so I didn’t have to reinstall the entire holder and this on fits and works perfectly!

Perfect size! It took me forever to find one long enough. I ordered a few and they were all about 1/2" too short.

Most T. P. roller replacements are too short to do the job. Worse yet they do not tell their length or fitting size. GOOD GRIEF! Finally I found this one. HURRAY! It has length and enough spring to fit many situations. My office is tidy and well fitted. No more hard to find j T.P. Thank you.
