The Lord of the Rings Instrumental Solos: Trumpet, Book & Online Audio/Software (Pop Instrumental Solo Series)

If you have a middle shooler in band that loves the Lord of the Rings Movies and plays clarinet, this book will get them playing more. The tape helps if you are an ear musician.Our only reservation was about how the clarinet is generally buried in the original score and how it would sound as a solo instrument. Basically, there are some numbers where the clarinet picks up a solo by an oboe or flute but they picked songs where it works, along with some pieces they feature that sound like they have clarinet in them orginally. The rohan and black rider songs in particular sound kind of exotic with the clarinet featured as a solo piece.If your kid watches the movies over and over, probably this book will get them more stoked about band, but my kid practices a lot anyway, so it's hard to say.

I have played trumpet for 20 years (13 years actively) and LOVED getting this book and accompanying CD. This was great to get me back into playing my trumpet again. While some of the CD's included with "play along" books like this have cheesy synthesized music rather than the official orchestral tracks, this CD is the closest I've heard and did a good job of trying to recreate the OST which results in the trumpet player actually feeling like they are part of the symphony!Would recommend to beginners, advanced and even beyond as not all players have access to playing in symphonies :)

We also have the trombone version of this book. My son loves it and plays with my other son who plays trombone. They have a good time playing them and have improved immensely. They love the Lord of the Rings movie, so this was a big motivator for them. It would be nice if they provided some alternative harmonies in there.

CD is good because it is just the main background instruments with the clarinet part... beautifully played I might add.

My 12 year old needed a new book for his clarinet class so he picked this one. He listened to the CD and then was able to start playing songs right away, so it wasn't too hard for him and he has been playing for 3 years.

This play-along contained all the themes I most enjoyed from the movie score. While it is clearly aimed at beginners, the music was not seriously altered from its original form.

If you like Lord of the Rings soundtrack, you'll probably enjoy playing these. They capture the music from the movie well and are fairly easy to play. Good for an intermediate player, maybe someone who has been playing for a year or more.

This book was clean and legible. None of the pages were bent, and the CD was in place at the back of the book. Some songs are more advanced and several were easier. Good book for learning with.

This book is great for me as I have recently got back into playing the Trumpet, and I also love the music from Lord of the Rings. The pieces range from roughly UK ABRSM Grades 4 - 6.Would also recommend the similar book on Star Wars.

A lovely book with excellent music in it. I bought it for my wife and she is constantly playing from.5 stars had it been a fraction less expensive.

Für den Unterricht gekauft. Kind ist begeistert. Auch wenn die Töne durchweg sehr hoch sind, ermuntert es doch sehr die höheren Töne zu üben.

Es sind die schönsten Stücke aus den Filmen eingearbeitet und die begleitende CD ist wunderschön. Die Noten sind gut spielbar und in angenehmer Größe, also einfach perfekt. Gute Ablenkung an gestressten Tagen ;)
