Great Split Ring Pryers ! I buy hard baits that typically come with treble hooks, which I like to trade out for single hooks; easier on me, and easier on the fish. My fingernails aren't nearly strong enough, and several other fishing pliers with split ring noses either didn't work at all, or were a pain to use. You don't want to slip when holding extremely sharp hooks. Finally ordered these Texas Tackle Split Ring Pryers and am pleased to report they work great. They are not designed to be your only fishing pliers, their sole purpose is opening split rings so you can change out hooks, and they excel at this. Wish I had them sooner. Wish they were made in Texas, not Pakistan, but they are quality and get the job done with a minimum of drama. I'm still going to try the Toits which are a unique cylindrical design and will update this review when I do. If you need to change out hooks, order these, you won't be disappointed.

these work just fine for me. at least on smaller split rings. used mostly on walking baits, whopper ploppers, nothing over a half ounce. had watched a review, and it painted them in a less than pretty picture, but i took a chance, and they work fine. there is a bit of flex if you squeeze the handles , but if your only working with smaller split rings, this shouldn't be an issue, they're really too small to handle anything oversize anyway, so for their purpose they work just fine. they split the ring apart, and let you grab and twist it as you remove or add your hook. does a good job.😊👍

Unlike the previous reviewer I received the right product. I frequently change and upgrade hooks and split rings. This is my second pair. The first pair is just fine but I decided to get a second pair so I have them along when I take extended fishing trips. I love them, they are durable, functional and set the standard for this type of tool.

Right up front: the tool works, works well, and I'm keeping it. I bought it to better handle (tiny) 6mm split rings and it opens and helps manipulate them nicely.The quality issue is the spring. Mine is very off-center and a little rough and catchy. Not enough to compromise the tool's use, but enough to be be slightly annoying.

several weeks ago, I was changing single inline hooks on to some lures by hand.. my thumbnails still haven't recovered! I saw this split ring plier being used on a fishing show, and instantly Amazon Prime'd it! Love it! Just changed out several lures, and will change out more, as soon as I get more hooks. The one picture is this plier laying on my IphoneX, to give you a sense of size.The only negative, and the reason for the four stars, it's made in Pakistan, not Texas, very disappointing to me. I understand people are in business to make a profit, but sure wish a quality product like this was actually made in Texas, maybe giving veterans or seniors a chance to earn some income. That being said, I am a fan of this plier, and my thumbnails give it two thumbs up!

These pliers work very well on small through medium size plugs. Wasted my money on several other stamped metal split ring pliers over the years. With the Texas Tackle pliers, replacing the treble hooks on my Crystal Minnow lures from the tiny 2" model up to the 5 1/4" model was a breeze. Can't believe I've been struggling with split rings for years... NOT ANYMORE!Nice tight construction on the pliers. Can't say for sure just how rust resistant they are at this point, but the polished stainless steel should stay rust free if I take care of it. The hardened jaws didn't show any signs of wear or blunting (point on top jaw) after use on a lot of split rings. Excellent quality. Would've paid double the $ if they were made in USA.

Good sturdy pliers for small split rings and hooks. I had to use a screwdriver to help prop and install large split rings/hooks

I was concerned if these "small" pliers would be large enough to work on my mid-size surfcasting plugs (2oz range). They are fine for working with the 1/0 trebles typically used. Functionally better than anything else I've used. The only negative thing is they are pretty crude in the finish department, but somehow seeem to work well in spite of that.
