Cuisinox Stainless Steel Butter Dish with Lid, 4" x 7.5"

I'm a fan of specialty butter such as Plugra that comes in double stick sized slabs. Many butter dishes don't accommodate that size. This one is just the right size. The Plugra slab, which is one of the larger sized slabs fits fine so those that are a bit smaller, will fit well too. Any that are larger won't however as it's snug with the Plugra.The stainless steel is light, but okay for this purpose. The overall size of the butter dish is not excessive so it fits well on a crowded counter and the handle is well appreciated. Don't know why my fingers are often slippery when I'm handling this sort of thing--it's not as though I slide them through the butter :)--but the dishes that have no proper handle are just harder to hold onto securely. The lower tray has a bit of depth to it which contains the butter well so it's not sliding around when you attempt to cut a piece from a cold stick. The dish washes well in the dishwasher and is easy to carry from counter to table due to the extensions on the ends.I like to have two butter dishes in use so one can be in the dishwasher while the other is in use. I dropped my previous glass dish that had no handle and didn't want another like that. I ended up with this one and a larger ceramic one that would hold an even larger slab, but is really a bit too big for my limited counter space. That one is better for table display where this one is more utilitarian looking but it is supremely functional and I'm very satisfied with it.

Holds 2 sticks of butter & is nice & shiny.

I like that it is easy to add butter and can go into the dishwasher but hate that butter smudges show on this almost instantly, unlike my ceramic or past butter containers.

unbreakable and easy to clean

Easy to clean. Fits 2 sticks of butter. Doesn’t get little chips on sides from butter knifewhen cutting.Really like it.

I bought this butter dish with lid assuming the lid would actually come with the butter dish. Have cats that love butter, so much so that they broke our ceramic butter dish. But no lid was included in the delivery just the dish. So, now I have to reorder and return, costing me a bunch of time (on the return not the re-order)...and that is the reason for this one-star review, I'd put in zero stars if that was an option.

Bought this to hold a full block of butter. It doesn't hold a full block of butter. I understand there may be a difference between Canadian and American and International block sizes of butter and this may work for smaller, non-Canadian blocks. So I cut the butter in half and keep the other half in the fridge until I need it; problem solved.The shiny finish is attractive but is a fingerprint magnet, made all the worse because of the buttery nature of butter (go figure). It cleans off well when it gets particularly smudged.Haven't run it through the dishwasher yet, but I can't see any reason why that wouldn't work.

Initially I had really hoped it'd be able to fit an entire block of butter without the butter touching the lid. Unfortunately it doesn't, but in retrospect I realize that would've been a ridiculous amount of butter to keep soft anyways. I usually put in a quarter of a block or half if someone in my home is planning on baking. (I believe a stick is one quarter of a block?) It's very beautiful and keeps clean. The handle is a good size and the stainless steel is light and easy to clean. Although my housemates were originally skeptical, they are now all big fans of the butter dish.
