Good price for valve adapter can be used with lawn genie and other valve types.

These work just fine. I particularly found it useful as a repair to some old Richdel valves. Owners of the older Richdel 700 series valves, R706, R711, (maybe R714 also?) will find you can no longer get repair-kits for them. These valves slide right into the original housing, and make good replacements. They're more expensive than a repair-kit, but cheaper than replacing the entire valve and you don't have to cut and glue your PVC pipes!

Kept the old valve for parts. These are meant to convert from a Lawn Genie and some others type manual operated valve, but all sprinkler valves should work this way. Once the "base" (from the manual valve) is installed to the incoming and outgoing water pipes, all it takes to remove the valve for cleaning or repair is to unscrew it, pull it out, then replace it, all of which requires no tools to accomplish. Wonderful for DIY. No wonder if professionals want to eradicate these. No time consuming and arduous digging in the dirt, cutting and gluing the pipes - just to fix the valve when that's all that needs to be done.The only negative with the valves is the water passageway (the little hole) from the solenoid area which has a 90 degree bend inside which makes it difficult to clean out. If any dirt or debris clogs that passage the valve won't work properly and cleaning it may be all the repair necessary.

For the price it's easy to replace them when the leak too much or stop working correctly. But I think they should last a lot longer than a year or two before they act up and the new ones just don't seem to last as long as the older ones even though they look the same. On the bright side the coils seem to never go bad like the older ones but those are easy to replace and I'd take that over the way these seem to always leak

Replaces old unit with ease. Good idea to have a few on hand in case they quit making them.
