Great detail on patterns, great tips, great tricks, love it for its teaching possibilities, excellently organized, and great projects to consider IF you like the drapey, slouchy type of knitwear. I still like the book and do not regret the purchase, as I get older finding 'drapey, slouchy' clothing is actually a blessing :)

Yes Barbara G. Walker is still influencing modern knitters. This is a good book to get your feet wet with and then or even before- Get into Barbara G. Walker's books. Seriously if you want to design for yourself, explore new territory and develop your artistic side - Get her books and books that follow her style of knitting. I liked this book for the various patterns you can develop for yourself- especially skirt patterns. You don't see skirt patterns often-How Fun is that!

This book may be dated, but it doesn't let you down when it comes to ideas. I bought it used and the description of the condition of the book was spot on which was appreciated due to having had the opposite experience with another seller in the past.

A good book at a great price. I have been wanting this book for a while. I saw the price on the used books and decided it was time to purchase it. It is a welcome addition to my collection of knitting books. The patterns are easy to read and understand.

I was pleasantly pleased while looking through this book and the patterns. It has many classic patterns that can be a start for altering and adapting a pattern that anyone can create. The pictures are in color, and the patterns are are clear and very through. A person who is self taught would enjoy this book. It has material that will keep you happily occupied.

This book fits into my knitting plans as I'm never satisfied with what patterns show me to do. I always want to make my own designs. It is helping me to do that. I find the directions clear and easy to understand. Knitting from the top down allows me to easily make those changes based on my size, and sense of dressing well. I'm going to use it often.

Fantastic designs, with unique feminine embellishments. The book quality is great, the patterns are very versatile, for age taste and season. The writer is also ver friendly and approachable if you contact her.Her previous modern top down knitting book is quite great too!

Can't rate book though dated patterns

Again one cannot even tell it was used. I am thrilled as her books are no longer in print and these patterns are only published in her books.

In this book the designer created some very interesting patterns using the top down technique. I found her explanations easy to follow and the book looks beautiful. I hope she'll continue publishing!

Davvero un libro bello e utile, con modelli abbastanza classici, e quindi durevoli nel tempo: i modelli troppo "alla moda" sembrano avere la data di scadenza: dopo tre anni fanno ridere e li devi disfare. Questi no, quindi il divertimento è doppio.
