JL Audio 12 Inch Single Foam Speaker Repair Kit FSK-12JL-1 (Single)

Glad I was able to find this repair kit for my 12" JLW6V2! I called around locally, but no shop would do it. Did a little searching online and found these guys. The original foam had dry rotted and the sound was horrible. I originally ordered the wrong repair kit and gave them a call and they immediately sent out the correct one for me. (Make sure you have the right one! In my case I accidentally ordered the thinner v1 version instead of the thicker v2) Installation was easy, just took awhile to clean off the old foam. They give you a lot of a adhesive too which is nice, but you won't even use that much. I followed a youtube video and had it done and back in my car the next day. Sounds so much better. Thanks guys!

Great kit.fit perfectly. Re-foam came out great. Woofer performs awesome, like a JL W3 should. Takes some time if it's your forst tome doing this ( took me 2 hours) and patience, but it's worth the results.

I needed a new foam surround for my old 12" Optimus subwoofer's cone. The speaker had no identifiable markings on it, so I had to guess which one to choose. The one I chose was too big, but by cutting and gluing, I was able to make it fit. It would be more useful if the exact inner and outer diameters were given, instead of just brand names or serial numbers. One would think that one 12" surround would be the same as another, but that is not the case. I was lucky; I ordered a piece that was too big. If it had been too small, there would have been no way to salvage it. That is the reason I'm awarding only 4 stars.

Honestly, I was scared to death about cutting into my $500 speaker to get it repaired. Videos provided were top notch and got a nervous, moderate-DIY guy through it. My JL sub sounds like new (paramount in my purchase). Really, it sounds GOOD, and I for paid $150 on CL a year ago. Only thing is that they do not explain about centering voice coil with 30hz when gluing last step. This turned out to be a fun project on a sunday with a lot of google and stones to tear away at a old surround that was worn out. Also, I ordered the wrong part first time and it was promptly replaced with the new one. I just hope their glue holds up in this Nevada heat. Both thumbs up from someone who has a totally "new" sounding sub that would have cost a lot to replace! P.S. Yes that is 3m foam tape in the pic that was a working repair until the heat here dryed out an entire edge of the surround.

I wish they explained that it may not fit the specified speaker and that I would be cutting it and glueing back together. Not happy

Since I just recently used this product I'm impressed wasn't sure what to think due to this was my first time reforming a speaker have a 12 WOv1-4 that deteriorated and has sat for at least 7 years. This product has brought to new life to my system allowing me to enjoy the sounds of my past system today. Every day I get in my car it's like I'm listening to a new speaker but it truly only cost me 25 bucks and my time to get it to sit right on the cone and basket of the speaker. Watch the YouTube video and you too can bring back classic sounds for a low price. You guys are the best I will definitely buy more my next trick will be a Rockford Fosgate old school 12.

This was a great buy for me! I'm glad I ran across this solution before I bought a replacement jl audio 12" subwoofer for my car. My old foam ring had dry rotted abd crumbled into the speaker cabinet, leaving me with that awful "blown speaker sound" . I saved a load of money going with this item and it's still working after several months. I gave it four stars instead of five only because it was just a bit tedious , making sure that the speaker stayed centered during the gluing process. The foam ring seemed to want to pull away as the speaker itself sits slightly lower on a "plane " than the outside ring. After working on it and "finessing" it for a few minutes, it sat perfectly. I would definitely do this again vs buying another speaker. There are videos on the internet that will help you if you watch them first
