Brilliant violent family noir drama
It's interesting that Yash Raj, normally known for their happy-sappy emotional sagas chose to produce this bleak and violent chilling drama about a criminal family. The protagonist is the youngest son, and he is desperate to break free of the cycle of viciousness. The film is realistic and unflinching without being exploitative. it's a great directorial debut from Kanu Behl and he'll hopefully put out more work. The 2-DVD set is an excellent package. Disc 1 contains the film with a faithful image (it was shot digitally) and 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. Disc 2 contains several extras where Anurag Kashyap, who loved the movie, discusses various aspects of making the film with the cast and crew. Highly recommended for those who want 'hatke' movies and have the stomach for some brutality.

Not every family is a family!
This is a starkly realistic portrayal of a patriarchal family of carjackers from the Delhi underbelly. The cast has some exciting new faces and all performances are bang-on. The violence is gritty and makes your stomach churn. There are many subtle touches and not everything is spoon-fed to the viewer. This is easily among one of the best hindi movies of the year.Coming to the DVD, like most of the YRF special editions, this is a 2-DVD set. The first contains the film and the second has cast-and-crew interviews hosted by Anurag Kashyap, along with a music video, trailer and character promos - totaling to more than an hour. Not to be missed if you like realistic, violent and gritty cinema. This is not a feel-good film. Highly recommended!

A great realistic film
I was a little apprehensive about the quality of the contents. I need not have worried. My favourite director Dibakar Bannerji should be complemented to have produced this movie. It is a realistic portrayal of an unfortunate family which has no other option than to have embraced a criminal way of life to eke out a living. This is the stark truth for a large no of Indian families which are way below the poverty line. Director Kanu Behl has delved into the tragedy from the very first shot onward in right earnest till the end titles. In fact the ending is really a memorable one because it retains the faith in the goodness of the two mail characters who survive the maelstrom of misfortune after misfortune. The editor also has done a good job by not allowing the pace to slacken. Excellent ensemble acting by all the cast has made this a memorable film. Highly recommended for all the film buffs and also others who would not mind a little bit of violence and obscenities.

Film grips you, shocks you and stays with you.
The film grips you, shocks you and stays with you for days after you have seen it. The brutal lives in Delhi's so-called resettlement colonies has never been captured on celluloid so well.

YRF DVD quality is good
The movie is great, but I also want to let you know about the quality of the DVD, as it's so easy to get ripped off with imported films. I purchased the YRF International DVD of this and had no problems. English subtitles were good. If you want to purchase this movie, this is the edition to buy.
