Beautiful Girlhood

I wish this book were required for mothers and their 7-13 year old daughters to read together. Such rich conversations would result that could benefit both!! Encourages good character and values.

Having an older daughter (age 21) I thought I remembered what it is to raise a young lady. I thought this book probably would be a refresher course for me. I was surprised! My 2nd daughter only 9 1/2 was becoming a young lady before I realized. This was a wonderful way to talk casually with her regarding how I had felt as a young girl. I forgot how to think about these things. This was a way I could read ahead and decide if she was ready and then talk about them as I was remembering my own childhood transition. I almost lost this wonderful opportunity. She was ready for some but not all.Using the Companion Guide along with the book, gave some wonderful jumping off points. I am not always able to put thoughts into practical applications, Mrs. Noonan knows what it is to talk about and teach in a personal way. I highly recommend using the bible scripture activities in the companion guide. I was able to turn it into a mommy-daughter time that helped my daughter talk about what she had been thinking as well as the book time.For me, I appreciated the books for articulating exactly what motherhood is. Many times I get overwhelmed by the logistics of how to run my house and forget "why". How many of our daughters know what it is to "act" like a mother, but not sure why it is important as a God-given joy and responsibility.This was a good book to use in pieces and choose what was right for the time and what to save for later. I am so glad I took the time to treasure these rare days with my daughter. The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood

i would like to thank the author for this great book for girls. My granddaughters simply loved it and starting reading it right on Christmas day in the middle of all the noise and running around, singing and dancing. As soon as they opened their presents they saw the book and were thrilled. One of them read the first chapter that day. The following morning she was going to drive with her parents to Atlanta, Ga. to see my son who lives there and spent sometime with that part of the family. My mom read through this book with me when I was 11 or 12. It was a special time of talking about what it means to be a biblical, godly young woman. I can't tell you how many times I referred back to it throughout my teenage years, particularly the chapters on love and boy friends. I often felt that I was the only girl who didn't flirt and it would be so nice to have the attention the other girls were getting. This book reassured me that the boys worth having would be attracted, not to wild and silly behavior, but to modesty and purity. It gave me the moral courage to fight on, and I will always be thankful.

Although it is written in a very classical approach, my 9 year old loves this book and is actually learning a lot from it! Highly recommend this book to anyone who values fundamental truths about girslhood, obedience and proper behavior for a young lady. Very well written

This is amazing for our homeschool read aloud. Timeless values for raising young ladies!!

This is a book I have bought several copies of now, as I lend it out and it doesn't come back because the lender likes it too much :) And I feel it is a must to keep around. It really focuses on a preteen as they face the struggle of figuring out their way in what the world tells them is important.

I have ordered this book over and over again for young girls turning 13. It's a great resource.

Lovely read

Beautiful book

I would recommand to every girl from 10 to 99 to read this book. I'm in my twenties, but I really enjoyed it ! It's well written, in an old style but can easily be understood. The author gives us insights about what a girl, and later, a woman after God's heart is. It's a must have for everybody who wants to cultivate a set-apart girlhood and who desires to please God.
