Amazing movie
I’ve heard some crazy parental concerns online about this movie having a subliminal religious meaning. That’s ridiculous to me. My 3 year old loves this as do my husband and I. The actors are hilarious and cool, songs are super catchy, and overall, it’s just more interesting and funny than most animated movies because I have seen so many!! If you are on the fence, this is heart warming, great acting and singing, upbeat and super fun for the whole family.

There's potential here . . . BUT
I really ping-ponged back and forth with this rating, from 1 star to 5 stars. This movie has such potential to really bring out discussion between parents and their kids, both pre-teens and teens. The issue I have with it is that, as a conscientious and devoted parent, I wasn't really prepared to address the wide range of issues that this movie will throw at you and your kids. I was expecting a more relaxed sit and veg type movie, and what I got was a flick where I was regularly having to stop and try and explain the nuances of the arguments/topics that the filmmakers were presenting in a very "this is bad, that is good, it's all black and white" way.Religion/Christianity all BAD - Science and Rationalism all GOODAuthority figures all BAD - Individualism and Anarchy all GOODFamily & Cultural traditions all BAD or Stupid - Rebellion and Self expression all GOODJoy in serving/sacrifice for the community or higher good all BAD - Joy in self gratification or personal gain all GOODAs an engineer, retired Army officer, computer modeling and simulations professional, video game aficionado, Christian husband of 20+ years, and homeschooling father, I've come to realize that there's an infinity of nuance in all the above topics and arguments. Can I "PROVE" to a staunch unbeliever that scientifically GOD exists (besides the scientific argument of there having to be a prime mover) . . . probably not. Can that same staunch unbeliever "PROVE" to me scientifically that GOD does not exist . . . probably not. Can both faith and belief in a Divine co-exist with science . . . I think so. Unfortunately, this movie puts everything in such a black and white way, that unless you are willing and able to sit and discuss those nuances with your children; you are left with essentially a propaganda film aimed at turning your children against family and authority in general; on nothing more than general principal. So 5 stars for presenting the topics in an entertaining way, that can be used to give you (as a parent) the opportunity to discuss with your children the topics raised. And 1 star for propagandizing the topics in such a way that unsuspecting or unprepared parents are left feeling like they've spent the film's running time under attack on all fronts. So I averaged and went with a 3 star. I enjoyed the movie, but wish I had known better what we were getting in to before we started watching.

Mostly Good
The animation is well done and the story is funny. It has some bad spiritual theology in it about how the world began.

Good Clean Family Movie with a Message
This movie had a theme about being ready to question long held beliefs. If you note from other reviews, some folks find that idea highly offensive. If this describes you, then you would likely HATE the movie. For families that believe that truth is more important than how long an idea has been held, this movie could open out a good discussion regarding this topic. Its not overly simplistic either. If beliefs change...the sense of security changes, roles in society change. That all has to be weighed in when and how to change. The ethical question regarding is it acceptable to lie for supposedly good reasons...is raised as well. You will find other topics such as this in this film which could foster family discussion. There was a bit of slapstick in the film ie depicting a yeti falling as a comedy break. Im not a fan of slapstick comedy.Ordinarily I would have taken a star off for that. I think the attempt at putting actual content in G rated family film overrode that negative so I still rated the film 5 stars.I find the other reviews fascinating that state in effect that questioning beliefs is improper....even if it involves cartoon Yeti.Make some snacks and watch the film.I will put the film away for a bit and watch it again. To the writer(s), great job in trying to actually SAY something with your work.
