Color:Brown Star San is an acid based no rinse sanitizer. Use only one Ounce per 5 gallons of water. Star San is odorless, flavorless, and requires only one to two minutes of contact time. This Product does tend to foam, which has advantages and disadvantages. The foaming action helps to sanitize cracks and crevices, but you need to allow extra time for draining. The foaming action is perfect for plastic fermenters. Since Star San is acid based, contact with soft metals should be kept to a minimum. Kept in a sealed container, a Star San solution will stay effective for as long as three to four weeks.

Used for a different purpose
Works fantastic for the removal of paint or silk screen on glass bottles! You have to soak them for about 2 daysand it comes right off. Great stuff!

Who needs Bleach....
If you are using bleach in your home brew process the switch will blow your mind time-wise. This makes sanitation so much simpler, faster, and you don't have to worry about ruining your clothes, towels, shoes, etc, etc.....

It is easy to use
I use this for homebrewing. It is a small bottle but potent stuff. It is easy to use. I just wish the contact time required was less. Other than that, it works fine.

Use with caution, it's caustic, but that's the point.
Bought this to use at a higher concentration to soften screen printing on glass for removal. It took some soaking, elbow grease, and coarse steel scrubbies, but it worked. I was able to get every speck of heat-set print off my bottles for craft use.

Do not fear the foam...
...advice I was given, but still was unprepared for. This stuff is nearly a miracle, a great no-rinse disinfectant. Keep the surface wet for about 5 minutes, let dry, and you’re done.
