Only watch this when you're drunk
I knew going into this movie it would be horrible, per all the existing editions of this story on netflix. I had so many questions watching this movie that I may as well list them here: Why do they have New York Accents but live in Canada? Why does the daughter come home BEFORE getting a job that would change her visa status? Why is there so much sexual tension between people who have not seen each other for 5 YEARS?? That timeline borders on obsessive thoughts. Regarding the weed: do the writers know that weed makes people drowsy, not wanting to throw a party? Do they know how much weed costs? Why would the son burn like 5 lbs of weed? This movie came out after the legalization of weed in Canada, so did they do anything wrong? This 4-Michelin star (this doesn't exist) wanting chef put her menu on a clipart of a CLIPBOARD??? and she cuts pizza with scissors?!? I have so many more unanswered questions, but I think these frame the movie well enough that you can tell an AI robot wrote this.

Heart-warming Fun and Witty Dialogue!
Whoever gave this 1 star must not have a heart! I mean c'mon, what in the hell are you expecting? Your version of perfection, whatever that is? For me, this movie was light-hearted, written and acted from the heart, the setting of Little Italy was colorful and charming, and gave me a real sense of the local ambience in what I'm guessing is Toronto. I loved everything about this movie, and I'm not a huge fan of Christensen usually, but even he was great. Funny throughout, and I loved the cross cultural addition with the Indian characters, who I thought were hilarious and endearing. To the people who so easily criticize and use words like "cliche" and "stereotypical characters", why don't you study screenwriting and movie making and make a better movie. For me and my wife, this movie is exactly what we are OFTEN in the mood for....family bonding, love that stems from childhood connections, following your dream even in the face of family opposition / rivalries, and it was just plain fun. I love how the younger generations were encouraging their parents to update their restaurants for the 21st century and were met with stoic opposition...very true to life, and perhaps to the culture in which this movie featured. If you want to laugh and open your heart, check this movie out. I think you'll love it! Great job filmmakers. Amazon, more movies like this please!

Disappointing
This had lots of potential, it could have been mature and been a seriously good movie, but they went low . . . had to throw in middle school vulgar scenes, with adults acting like morons, and of course the obligatory gay person. Hollywood PC is so tiring. I'd love to see someone do this with adults acting like adults instead of eighth graders.

Bad Acting - Bad Story
We could not finish the movie. It was vulgar and dumb.

Bad acting and very predictable-
I can't believe this is a choice on American Airlines but I rented it through Amazon last night. I'm so happy I only paid $1.99 because it's pretty bad. I didn't even know Alyssa Milano was in it until about a third of the way through and even she is horrible in this movie. I honestly felt like I was watching an acting class in college and I couldn't even finish it.

Painful
I have maybe quit 5 movies in my life. Just terrible.

Cliches and Poor Acting, but still loveable movie
The painfully poor acting was probably the reason why this lost the first star (from bad Italian accents, awk chemistry, lack of authenticity), and the film lost a second star because it shamelessly over-played every single Italian immigrant cliche- I was waiting for Mario and Luigi to make a cameo at one point. The plotline is also overly simplified and predictable - I wish I could recommend this as a family movie but it unfortunately has too many sexual innuendos inappropriate for anyone under 16.However in the end, it's a feel-gooder about family, loyalty and home roots. If it's a rainy night and you have nothing else better to do, it's worth the $3.

Won’t work in CA or USA
DO NOT PURCHASE this if you live in North America, this is a PAL region only, it won’t work on your device. This was NOT specified in the product details when I purchased the DVDs and now the seller won’t refund me because they have just added the notice to their product description and they are saying it was there all along... It is completely false, don’t get fooled and don’t give them your money.

Great movie!
It is a very sweet romantic movie! Made even more special by the setting - Toronto, my hometown!
