Smart Low-Flow Heater Replacement for Sundance Spa Hot Tub 5.5kW 6500-310/6500-301

My original hot tub heater started leaking. I order this one as it was substantially cheaper than from the spa dealer. It came in a few days. It was easy to install. It took two people to install it but that was doing it with the hot tub full of water. It would only require 1 person if the tub was empty. It only took about 45 minutes to install. It’s been running for a couple months none stop and keeps the temperature right were it should be.

Happy with how easy this was to install. Replaced my OEM heater in around 15 minutes and it was heating the tub. I have two minor complaints. First is that the over heat sensor isn't attached, it needs to be attached with silicone into the top or bottom depending on your configuration. Second is probably hot tub specific, but when my tub was heating in ice / cold mode, the heating light indicator was not on the heater as the hot tub was not directly calling for heat. Once it got out of this mode, the heating indicator was on as was the light on the heater. I wasn't sure if it was working at the beginning.

Good replacement, great quality of build, perfect fit. Fired right up. Didn’t realize how poorly the original was performing, due to mineral buildup, until I got this new one.

It fit perfectly and is doing its intended purpose (heating water)! So far so good now for 3 months.

This not a cheap, dangerous, Chinese knock off. It is made with 10ga copper wiring as opposed to Chinese 10ga aluminum. To make it equivalent the aluminum should be 8ga. As a result it can be overloaded and start a fire. This heater passes their internal quality control. And, same price as inferior knock offs. Highly recommend.

I liked that it has an indicator light to show that heater is on. It came with a high limit sensor and a length of tubing if you needed it. I was getting an sn 1 error on my Sundance spa which is supposed to be a problem with the high limit sensor that is inserted into the heater. I replaced the sensor but still got the error and the spa would not heat. My heater was about ten years old so needed replacement even if it wasn’t the cause of the problem. So I got this heater and installed it along with the included sensor and it fixed the problem. Not saying that it would fix all sn 1 error code problems but it fixed mine.

Although the picture does not show the temperature sensor, I felt the description was not very clear that the component was missing. According to the Sundance repair manual, it is unwise to use the old sensor. The company did nothing wrong, and so I did not complain, just felt it should have been more clear. So expect to pay an additional $30 for this sensor.
