Goosebumps 2 [DVD]

Three young teenagers discover an ancient text that brings a ventriloquist's dummy to life, who unleashes all kinds of horrors, including reactivating famed inventor Nicola Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower, also know as the tesla Tower, that was funded by J. Pierpont Morgan and was conceived to deliver messages and electricity free throughout a world interconnected towers system. The story, based on the immensely popular children's book series by R. L. Stine, is a fun romp without being scary for young 'uns.The kids discover that they are WAY out of their league as their town is turned into a Hallowe'en nightmare, with masks and costumes coming to life and local townspeople being transformed. Even my younger grandson Evan, not quite 3 at the time, LOVED the werewolf in the movie, and he would wear me out cutting to that scene over and over and still does three years later!Full disclosure: The director of this film, Ari Sandel, is an immensely talented director who wrote and produced a wonderful musical live-action short film, "West Bank Story," about competing Palestinian and Israeli falafel stands. The star-crossed lovers from both families, true to the Romeo & Juliet-based stories, meet and fall in love despite their families' hostilities for each other. Unlike the originals, however -- SPOILER ALERT! -- all's well that ends well. Ari's film was passed over by the judges at the film festival where I won my Best Screenplay award, but I laughed so damn hard when I saw it -- "What's in there?" an Israeli check-point guard asks. "Hummus," the person says. "HAMAS???" "No no no -- HUMMUS!" -- that my injured spine flared up from me convulsing in laughter. I had to go for a while to ice down my back, and ran across June Lockhart, who had kissed me twice on the stage at the awards banquet the night before and scored the hat trick as I walked to my car. Yeah. I kiss and tell . . . when it's only kissing, that is.When "West Bank Story" was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film, I wrote Ari and said, "Not only are you going to win an Oscar, Ari, you're going to win one before Martin Scorsese!" Happily, both prophecies came true, and I was giddy for his success. So Ari, if you read this, thanks for entertaining my young grandson! I'll bust "WBS" on the boys when they're a bit older, but it wouldn't hurt for people to buy and watch "West Bank Story" as well and see how the seemingly never-ending troubles in Gaza and the West Bank might some day hopefully have a happy ending as well. May we all live to see that day and soon.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is a sugar rush of spooky fun, but with a dash of something unsettling beneath the surface. Slappy the dummy, once banished to a dusty corner, returns with a mischievous glint in his button eyes. His twisted smile promises chills, and the town's Halloween decorations come alive with a sinister glee. While the scares are more playful than bone-chilling, there's an underlying darkness that lingers like cobwebs on a forgotten attic. It's a perfect Halloween treat for those who crave a spooky story with a touch of mischievous mayhem. Just keep the lights on, and maybe avoid eye contact with any overly enthusiastic jack-o-lanterns.

Slappy is a very cool puppet with a soul. He is not dumb, he's very smart. He jokes around almost throughout the entire movie, much more friendlier than the last episode. However, I notice there may be a flaw or two while watching it. When Sarah's mom Kathy first picks up the ventriloquist puppet at home, how exactly is she able to control Slappy's mouth and eye movement? He is not like Toy Story Woody type where you can push a button or pull a string so he can talk. Mom is stupid. His name is not Bobo, also stupid; and remember Fred at the pharmacy? Hold on a minute, now if your employer allows you to work in that specific pharmacy, you would be a certified phamacist, of course; but you can never ever be the store manager, you cannot be both. I guarantee you cannot act like both. That makes no sense. Also are you the only one on duty or in charge on Halloween night in such a big store? No I doubt it... Mr Chu is funny in this one I must admit as compared to Ken Jeong's other type movies. Bring-the-monsters-to-life part, I love the 3 witches, I love Slappy's comedic talents, of course, I love the cyborg lady, I love the bride of Frankenstein, I love the headless horseman! I don't love gummy bears, now beat it. The red balloon Easter egg is very clever, from Stephen King's IT, bet you all missed that one... Who says monsters are not fun?

My kids 10 and 5 LOOOOVE goosebumps. They like spooky stories and these are perfect for kids that are into spooky but can't watch more grown up films. I will say my 5 year old is probably not the average in the way she likes spooky, so please keep that in mind when you're deciding on these series.

My 7 year old daughter loves it, so I've found myself renting it a few times. It's perfect for all ages.

Definitely always a cool edition to buy a movie that has a Blu-ray DVD combo. So you can watch it on either version. The only thing I didn't like is that the Blu-ray was only coded to Region A. It would've been better if it was multi-region. Above that, a great movie all the same. I do hope they make a third.

Buena pelicula en 4k aunq no es nativa el HDR hace la diferencia. Ademas q la historia les gusto a mis hijos con ella pude evaluar las capacidades de mi oled sobre todo en detalles en sombra que tiene muchas escenas asi. La recomiendo

Lástima que ya no viene con su slipcover, pero la verdad me costó muy barato.La calidad de la imagen es muy buena y es una mejora con respecto al blu-ray.El sonido en inglés Dolby Atmos se oye estupendo. Trae sonido español latino DD 5.1 así como subtítulos en ambos idiomas. Tiene código digital solo válido para Movies Anywhere exclusivo de USA. Cómpralo en oferta.
