so I was glad to pick up a newer version
I am such a fan of B.C. I'm a bit of an artist myself and I am blown away at the depth of human emotions Johnny Hart was able capture in just a squiggly line or two. I'm blown away just thinking about it!!! Only comic ever, except a Larson or two, that has had me laughing until I cried and cried until I laughed. I've collected 6 or 7 little paper backs and they are a true 'joy-treasure'. However, the pages are getting a bit brown around the edges and brittle... so I was glad to pick up a newer version. So grateful to be able to celebrate with this new volume. Thank you to family for keeping this marvelous legacy going... God bless!

Before 'B.C.': The Story Of A Timeless Comic Strip
What appears to be a simple comic strip in its composition is as 3 dimensional as they come. First, even the roll-your-eyes-funny gags are still pretty smart. And the philosophical and spiritual themes are really something. And a person sat down and thought up and drew this art and his name is Johnny Hart. I enjoyed learning the story behind one of the most popular comic strips to ever grace the funnies and the collection of artwork is a must have for any cartoonist or fan of cartooning. Imagine coming up with a new idea every day year after year for half a century and also having the brainpower leftover to co-create a second strip called 'Wizard Of Id'? A great book featuring the work of a great cartoonist.

Hipsters Of The Stone Age
From 1958 until his passing in 2007, Johnny Hart wrote and drew one of the best cartoon strips ever seen in the newspapers of the world, the very funny and hip cartoon entitled: B.C.By the mid sixties the only daily comic strip bigger than B.C. and Johnny's second strip (with Brent Parker) The Wizard of Id, was Charles M. Schulz's; Peanuts. The crafty and wild antics of these kooky cavemen sometime seem a bit more modern than the average Joe of 25,000 years ago. Peter, Thor, Clumsy Carp, Curls, Wiley, Fat Broad, Cute Chick, The Ants, The Anteater, Grog, The Dinosaurs and B.C. are the cast of this rocky land of laughs and fun. With the best wise-cracks and sight-gags found in any cartoon out there, B.C. is quite simply one of the funniest comic strips of last five decades. Johnny Hart has won every major award for cartooning that there is to win. Johnny, was syndicated throughout the planet and featured in thousands of newspapers. This book chronicles the long story of this bunch from the very begining up until the final strips that Johnny produced. For five decades this cartoon was at the top of hundreds of strips published daily. B.C. is a real wonderful cartoon and my wish would be that Johnny was still here with us, producing this great gem.Five Stars!!!

Kindle Version Not Legible
I purchased the Kindle version of this book. I was very disappointed in the quality of the content. The writing on the dedication/introduction pages and the cartoon strips were very tiny and a bit blurry. They looked like low quality .jpg scans.I tried changing the size (Aa)setting and it did not do anything. I also tried turning the content landscape instead of portrait. The size still did not change. I contacted Amazon customer support and reported the problems. They did refund my payment with no hassle. Amazon's customer service is outstaning!I am hoping Amazon can get the book into a readable format for Kindle so I can try again. In the meantime, if you really want to read this book, I suggest purchasing the bound version ($29.99 here at Amazon.com [ASIN: 1933160683]).

Too small to read.
Kindle version of this book appears to be series of page scans of a printed copy of the book. Results is a version that is too small to read on the Kindle. And if you finger-spread it to enlarge the image the results is too blurred to read. I'd return it if I could. 1 star is being generous.

Not Worth it for Kindle
The Kindle Version needs to be fixed. It is too small to enjoy.

Poor
I'm sure the hard cover book is splendid, but the Kindle version is in my opinion very poor and smacks of someone making a quick buck out of the wonderful legacy left by Johnny Hart.
