Dandy adjustable height stool!
I do not use this stool in the bath. I recently came home after 3 weeks in the hospital, two of them in a medically induced coma. Standing for more than a minute or two at a time taxed my stamina to the utmost. I chose this stool because I could adjust the height to my various needs & it is very light weight, i.e. weak as I was I could still move it room to room very easily. The two piece legs slot together fairly easily (three went together in seconds, the forth one took about as long as the other three combined). The folks putting the stool together were me and my 76 year old mother, so not a lot of strength was needed either. The legs then slot into mounting brackets - no tools and even with a couple of snug fits it took us less than 10 minutes. (If you are fairly able in your upper body, 5 minutes will be more than enough time.)I use this stool everyday. I appreciate that I can switch the height from sitting at my desk to something to rest on while washing dishes or preparing a meal in the kitchen in less than a minute. It is sturdy and stable. It is fairly comfortable. Since I use it so much, a bit more padding would be welcome. (I have affixed a round pillow to the stool to address the cushioning for myself. If you use this as a shower stool, you will have no problems!) To be frank, I am an obese middle aged woman, so if this stool is holding up to my daily use, it should prove itself to be more than adequate when utilized as the maker intended. The round 'shelf' that is included may or may not work in the shower. When using the stool as I do, it mostly falls off - especially as I move the stool from home office to kitchen. If serves no useful purpose for me, so I really don't care.If you are wondering about performance and value for money, I have several products from Drive Medical that I have purchased over the years for other family members. All have proven more than satisfactory in terms of performance. Indeed everyone of them out lasted the original owner & were happily put to use by a new recipient. As for price, I have seen this stool for as much as $65US, so the Amazon price is very very good.

Nice product
If you were looking at this stooll you chubby like me. We know that we need sturdy items. This is a great shower stool. Very sturdy and extremely easy to put together compared to the other Drive benches. Everything is snap button and fits perfectly into place. It has a swivel seat which I have not used.Being a large person I was apprehensive about a stool as I never sit on them. That said I tend to avoid sitting on a stool, this is nothing like any stool I have sat on. The highest the seat would go would easily accommodate someone as tall as 6 foot 4. It also goes low enough for a much shorter person. It did not wobble at all and I felt very safe sitting on it. It has a tray underneath to store items but being a large person I was not inclined to lean over to fetch something from the tray so it has gone unused. The base is approximately 15 inches on your floor space which makes it great for a smaller shower or tub. The rubber caps on the bottom are large and stay put. Overall this is a great piece of equipment for those of us that are larger in size.Almost everything I have regarding equipment are Drive products as they have been fantastic.Update: when assembling one of the pins that actually goes into the seat was defective but I felt it shouldn't be a problem because the fit was so snug. My family felt otherwise and insisted that I return it because the possibility that it would fail. Drive makes such a fantastic product that I was surprised there was an issue at all. I will still continue to buy Drive products.

Do Not Buy! This item is Dangerous!
I first bought this stool back in 2014 as shown in the first picture I attached. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well made it was. Both the upper and lower leg were cast as single pieces of metal, meaning the were no seams to break open. It was rated to hold 400 pounds and due to a bad back I was getting up there. I used it in the shower almost daily until recently when one of the push buttons to adjust the leg length gave out. My first thought was to simply drill through the leg and secure the leg with a bolt and nut since I have never adjusted the seat to a different level. Then I decided since it was in water daily for seven years I should just go ahead and buy a new one. So, I pulled up my old purchase and selected buy again. BIG MISTAKE.My “new” one arrived. This new stool claimed to have a capacity to hold 450 pounds! This stool was cheaply made. The upper half of the leg was made of two pieces of cheap plastic. As shown in my second photo both halves were held together by three tiny screws, meaning they were barely held together. Against my better judgement I decided to assemble the stool hoping maybe once the parts were together, they would somehow be study enough. As I tried assemble the last bottom half of the leg into the upper half, I pressed in the leg height adjustment button that was spring loaded as required. The button collapsed inside the hollow leg. I had to completely take the upper leg apart to retrieve the button. That was when I discovered the upper leg half was only held together with three tiny screws! It took a lot but I finally managed to reseat the button. Instead of being held in place with a full spring the button was held in place with a small length of metal that pressed against the opposite side to offer some tension on the button. So, I wondered how well would the four leg buttons stay in place when actual weight was placed on the stool.I continued to reassemble the stool which wobbled terribly. I placed the bottom plastic tray in place hoping this would finally provide some stability. It did not. The tray was attached to each leg by a small lip which fit into a plastic slot on each leg. It still had a terrible wobble with just placing the weight of my hand on it. I tried sitting on it and it wobbled even more! I could not imagine being wet in the shower trying to stay on top of the wet seat as it wobbled. I have glass shower doors and could only imagine myself flying through the glass doors cut in many places as I fell onto the bathroom floor, breaking my back the rest of the way!I decided to send it back and began to disassemble it. As I tried to pull the first tray lip from the leg slot and it immediately snapped in two! So much for being able to support 450 pounds! This stool is unsafe in my opinion. I would only use it to support the weight of a medium size flower pot that I didn’t care too much about. I would rather have paid MORE for this stool to maintain its original quality than to go to cheap plastic. It surprises me that a company which produces medical products knowing its clients would be infirm, many with weight problems would present this stool for sale. Also, as most bathtubs and showers are rather small people needing to use the stool would likely want to steady themselves getting into the bathtub by placing their hand on the stool seat. This alone could cause an elderly person to fall as the stool wobbles so much.Needless to say, I took my original stool and drilled a hole through its metal leg and bolted it in place and put it back in service.

More independence
For 2 years now I needed assistance while showering, I have a torn shoulder and back disc and left knee, so my spouse helped wash my hair and back for me. I often slipped of late in shower and having 2 forms of arthritis and Fibromyalgia made showering a difficult task for me. Yesterday I was able to sit to shower and bent forward to wash my hair so did not have to raise my shoulders, it felt great to wash my own hair again by myself. I also found it easier to wash my feet sitting down and putting against bathtub, feels great to be able to shower alone now, this seat is comfortable, the 4 stars is because of my arthritis I had a hard time pushing the legs in even when turned upside down, otherwise would get a 4 star. Also the rotating seat is not working as well as I though it would as you have to lift yourself up for the seat to turn, unless I am not doing it right, or might be my arthritis not being strong enough to do it properly, so I decided not to use that function.

Poor quality plastic
Don’t trust the weight capacity. The leg broke the first it was used. If you’re over 250lbs just stay away. Returned it. Ordered another type and will review that one once we use it.

Compact - Ideal for Small Shower Stalls/Tubs
This bath stool is great for people who are trying to find a seat that will fit in a small shower stall (as we were) or a narrow tub and it was easy to put together (no tools required - another bonus)! As for the "padded" seat, well, I think that might be a bit of a stretch (just know that it is not a "cushy" padded seat as it appears in the photo), but it IS comfortable and that's what counts! The "removable tray for storing personal items" is too flimsy to store anything more (heavier) than a bath sponge, so that claim is a bit of a stretch too. The seat is height adjustable (easy to do - and again, without tools) and the seat does swivel allowing you to move on the seat without twisting your body. We've used it for over a week now, and been pleased with it's sturdiness. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a full five stars is the fact that the screws that are used in the legs (factory installed) are already rusting and oozing orange/brown after a shower. I cannot fathom how the manufacturer would not consider using screws that are galvanized (knowing they will be constantly exposed to water). It's a "no-brainer". I am sure this will become annoying (over time) as those rusty drips can stain the grout/tile if not wiped up after each shower. Given the overall cost of this seat (compared to others), one might have reason to expect screws that don't rust and a shelf that can hold more (weight) than a shower sponge.
