Earthways: Simple Environmental Activities for Young Children Paperback – July 1, 1992

This book was referenced in something else I had been reading, so I was thrilled to find a copy online since I don't believe it's in print anymore. The seller's description of my book's condition was accurate, except for one detail...it's signed by the author! It's a delightful book with simple and wholesome activities for a range of ages. We use it as a supplement to a Waldorf-ish approach to homeschooling and all of my kids have enjoyed the projects and crafts that we've done. In today's academic frenzy to get kids ahead of the curve, it's nice to have a resource like this to help my little ones slow down and embrace childhood.

I have been teaching preschool for 16 years. This book was just what I needed. I am so tired of Lakeshore, and all of the plastic, boring "academic" junk being passed off to early childhood teachers. This book reminds you of what activities with young children should look like. Plus all the real learning that happens during these moments.

I love the ideas in this book. I do believe that some of the age ratings are off by a little bit. The book expects children to be able to do things about a year earlier than they are able. As a mother of a preschooler and a teacher of a collective preschool, the activities are great and I love the thought behind them. (I just adjust as needed as far as age appropriateness.)

This is a must-have book for any parent and child who loves nature, or wants to include nature in their child's life. It is well written with realistic arts and crafts projects that will actually work--not frustrate your child. It also has a very deep Waldorf flair to it for any parents who are looking for ideas to do at home. LOVE this book!

I have many books. Lots of them sit on the shelf and come out as needed. This is one that does not even go back on to the shelf. It sits at my computer with a couple of "must haves" and I refer to it several times a week. You will not be disappointed with this book!
