This book and Living Well On the Spectrum are must-haves!
This is an invaluable guide to conceptualizing, assessing and helping cognitively-abled adults with ASD. Dr. Gaus illustrates her clinical experiences with care and painstakingly documents research while writing in a way that serves providers that are at all stages of experience. I share this book with my students and have learned so much myself. This book and Living Well On the Spectrum are must-haves!

Accessible & Informational Must Read for Any Practitioner of CBT
As a clinical psychologist Board Certified in CBT and who works extensively with autistic teens and adults, I feel very comfortable saying that this is a must read. Given the rates of Autism, and the likelihood of co-occurring conditions, most therapist who do CBT will come across at least one patient in the career on the Autism spectrum. The book is a foundational guide to understand ASD, as well as a wonderful resource for those well-versed in ASD to have the most up-to-date information on how to best serve patients.

Concise and practical.
This book is an excellent addition to the bookshelf of anyone working with adults who have ASD. It is very readable, but not in the least bit dumbed down. Dr. Gauss' many references to the research literature, and to foundational texts in cognitive behavioral therapy are helpful, as are her case examples. Also, in the case examples, you see the humanity and decency of Dr. Gauss shine through.

Easily understood
Dr. Valerie Gaus has the uncanny ability to take complicated, clinical information and write about it in a clear, concise and easy way so that clinicians and the general public can understand it. I like to recommend her books to everyone. I know that they will easily find the explanations they are looking for and examples to make things even clearer.
