Son of Hibachi, good idea.
This is a clever and well thought out design. Packs away neatly in its own bag which has a pocket. Pocket can be used for tools and chopping board. If packed away COLD there is room in both top and bottom of bag for say lighting fuel and food. Charcoal bricketts can go in BBQ its self.I thought the BBQ would be bigger than it is but there was ample space on grills and as we like jacket potatoes could get two of these in centre "ash tray" which cooked a treat. Please try a variety of briquettes, one lot seem to burn away a lot quicker than another lot. Going to run a test with one type in one burner the other in the other burner. Not tried the "oven" mode but looks if it would be OK and still with jacket potatoes. This BBQ is heavier than expected but this is down to the quality and quantity of materials to build. Lights well and snuffs out OK.Only adverse comment is that if you place on grass it will scorch the grass, but you can use the bag (as per instructions) under the BBQ to stop this. It does get quite hot underneath ideal for heating plates. The snuff out lid has a "clip" so you can use it as a handle to lift and move the grills. This had a tight fit which made it awkward to get grills free, I opened this a tad just to make it easier to slip on and off.Am I pleased I bought it,yes! Will be using it for the rest of the summer, now where did I put those spare ribs?

Great!
At last got around to trying this out after being very disappointed with a new 'portable' gas BBQ last year and what a great design!Lights easily, hot, plates are small enough to be easy to clean but big enough for a BBQ for a family of 4, all the ash collects in the pan when finished, well made and very portable! Really impressed! Back to real BBQ'ing!

handy Grill will take some getting use to
I have been after this grill for a while and finally after a visit to the beach and seeing people enjoing a BBQ there the good wife relented and the deal was done. I tested the grill in the back garden and had mixed feelings about it.Firstly it is a great design and is very portable and you can set it up prior to leaving for the beach with the coals and lighting material in the grill ready to go and on arrival just take it out of the bag and light!First attempts at lighting took a while as I don't like to use paraffin soaked materials when cooking food so after a few failed attempts found a couple of kindling sticks and some old newspaper worked a treat. Normal fire lighters will work fine (I am just not a fan).Once lit the grill got hot quickly but I left it for 20 minutes as it was the first time of lighting and thats what it said in the instructions. I will have to experiment more but I think it will be ready to cook on within 10 minutes or so.Once opened I found that the initial heat is very hot you have to get your food on quick and keep it moving as it cooks very quickly. 6 bratwursts were done in minutes. You can very quickly cook food which is great however after about 10 minutes the grill is not searingly hot (probally due to air flow) I placed an oven thermometer on it and it was reading about 110 degrees centigrade still hot enough to cook on but it would take longer to cook things.I am going to experiment with leaving the grill closed for longer to really super heat the coals to see if this changes the temps. I suppose this is the Hibachi style of cooking getting the grill searingly hot then cooking quickly. definatley more experimenting needed!I am going to test out its roasting "mode" today to see how that works with a spatchcock chicken fully closed up I would think that it would roast very quickly.HUGE WORD OF WARNING (and the reason only 3 atars)One of the main reasons for buying this grill was the Snuff Out Pouch and the idea of being able to just pack up and go once you have finished cooking. So of course I decided to test this! I closed up the grill and left it upright with the damper slightly open to clean itself (I didnt notice a huge increase in temps enough to burn off anything but will continue to monitor this). I then placed it in the bag and waited for the inevitable confligration! However true to the marketing the bag didn't spontaneously combust, it did however become fairly hot and gave off some fumes (which I should have taken note of!)I left it to do its work and snuff out the coal for about an hour and then placed it in the utility room as it was starting to rain. About four hours later the Carbon Monoxide alarm woke the good lady wife and a quick trip to A&E to make sure she was OK later and a valuable lesson learned! The pouch will enable you to safely trasnport the grill once it has finished cooking but it gives off a serious amount of Carbon Monoxide. if you are travelling in a car I would empty the coals before putting the thing in the pouch and driving home. That said on opening the grill this morning the pouch had done a great job of preserving the coals I would say about 80% of them are still there ready for some more experimenting. When using at home it is quite safe to use the grill then place it in the pouch after cooking but please do heed my warning and leave it outside or in a well ventilated place. So apart from nearly killing the wife I would say that this grill is a great idea but will get some getting used to.

Son Of Hibachi
Would have gotten 4* for design however the product quality let's this design down. After using for a while now the small black knob on the ash tray has turned brittle and fallen off. I'd have designed with a different material perhaps ceramic non conducting. And although the although it says you can put this back in the snuff bag immediately after use you don't want to. I've done that a few times now and the outer case has now burnt through. Those are the negatives and on the positive side it lights so quick. the chimney effect really does work and your set to cook in 10-12 minutes if you don't overload with charcoal. The adjustable grill height is great and the ability to use the carry handle to move the grill when hot is really clever.

Great Quality Portable Grill
Phenomenal portable grill. It lives in our VWT5 and is used most weekends. More than enough grill space to cook a meal for 2 in one sitting and the heatproof bag is a real bonus when looking to get away quickly.

Haven't used this yet however it does look like a great gadget - I was very disappointed that it had no wrapping at all - when it was delivered the delivery driver handed it straight over to my husband saying "BBq Sir" - this was actually a christmas present for my husband so I was rather annoyed - some sort of packaging over this box rather than it's clear shrinkwrap would have avoided this and would have been preferable as the surprise was completely ruined!
