quality product minimal documentation
The product is very nice, great technology, clear controls. The information on it is far too little. Only one marketing video online, no blogs, no instruction manual. No community support. Also, it is a bit creepy having to connect to your home wifi network when you are in battle mode. Why not just stick to bluetooth

Excellent tank cars but the software can be annoying at times.
The tank cars are a bit underpowered, but they work well unless you are running them on a thick carpet. On a thick shag carpet, they will often bog down and become unresponsive during turns. On the floor or thin carpet, the tanks work perfectly and respond very quickly to the iPhone controller app. I am not a big fan of the app, however, as it has a number of quirks that will take a while to get used to. My five year old grandson, however, had no trouble controlling the tank cars once I got the app up and running. If you want to go into competition mode, you will need two phones. I wish it were possible to buy controllers for these tank cars as it would be a worthy investment. The phone app tries to do too much, and will not allow a user to just use it to control the motion and fire the laser cannon, but introduces other side tasks that may or may not add to the fun. I considered dropping my rating to four stars to register a complaint about the iPhone app, but decided it was not that big an issue. And for some, the points and competition tasks will add to the fun.In closing let me say my five year old grandson had so much fun driving Gondar around the house that we had trouble getting him to stop. And these tanks do not damage furniture so your antiques are safe. All things considered, this is a great toy that even adults can enjoy playing with.

Data Mining At Its Worse
This looked like a really cool toy. A tank like vehicle that you can run from your phone and fight battles with light. The set comes with two tanks, minimal instructions and two USB charging cables. You control the tanks with your smartphone. The "manual" has a QR code that supposedly sent you to download the application to your smartphone. The QR code went into infinity circle mode and never loaded. Then I went to the PlayStore and downloaded the software there. In the installation the software asks for permission to make phone calls, wants to know your location and wants permission to access data, photos etc on your phone. I denied all permissions and the software would not load. From my perspective this is simply a cheap shot at data mining. There is not reason that the application needs to do all those things to play with a toy. The company charges a fair amount for the toy and then double dips by stealing your information and no doubt selling it and all with your permission. This is absurd. This is a toy that will never be under my tree.

Two player remote control tank battle
Imagine two remote control cars battling each other with laser weapons. In this video I’m competing against our toddler. We are each using a separate iPad. The controls are simple once you get past the registration and all the fancy setup/option screens. I wish the whole app would be simple because toddlers like to press the wrong buttons and get into the setup pages by accident. The battle tanks keep their charge for a long time, but the rubber tracks tend to get misaligned when going over a lot of obstacles and then need to be straightened out by hand.

Pretty quick startup, cars are quick, too. Lots of fun lights. Structured game.
I hate admitting this, but I'll mention in case anyone else has it happen. When downloading the app for this I was asked to update my credit card. I assumed it was a msg from the app, but it wasn't, it was Apple. I hadn't bought anything from Apple in so long, the CC I had on file was long expired, so it was just them fussing at me.There is a required app that's free. There are in-app purchases possible, but are not needed to run the cars around or play the game. Once I got past Apple, there were no other concerns. No money/card/info was asked. The cars themselves seem to be well made. They feel very sturdy. They move very well. Each car has its own power button, and needs to be on when you pair your phone to it. Pairing was also nearly instant. While the app has been working with no issues, the way you control the cars is a little awkward for me. I'm not sure I can explain it, but directions are broken down into 2 controls, 1 handles front/back the other handles right and left. I find that awkward. The kids didn't *sigh*The charging method is a simple click of the cable into the car, and plug into USB. No battery compartment to mess with, no battery block. Really quick and clean. As far as charge duration, we have yet to play long enough to outlast it.The game itself is easy - "shoot" the other car using a "cannon" (a clear light) mounted on the front of your car. There's a "weapon recharge" time between firings and a couple of other constrictions. You can, however, make it really interesting using furniture or other obstacles for them to hide around. Very much like laser tag with cars.If you're looking for RCs or just gift ideas, this set is a good option to consider. Really cool, fun RC cars plus some learning.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many things you buy every day will generate a small donation to the charity of your choice. Kind of a Lazer Tag game with remote units instead of the jackets and handguns.
Fun looking game for all ages, the cars were smaller than I envisioned, but very maneuverable, and able to challenge most smaller obstacles. Cool design and lighting and Bluetooth connection makes with easy control and can be played in the evening with a semi darkened house. It's like playing a videogame without the virtual machines, this type of simulation may have some real world strategy uses. Recommended for kids of all ages, need a fairly upgraded set of cell phones to operate it. More iPhone centric, but it does work with Android models as well.
