Pride and Prejudice - Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack | Piano Solo Book Music by Dario Marianelli | Film Score Sheet Music for Intermediate Pianists | Romantic Movie Piano Songbook [Marianelli, Dario] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Pride and Prejudice - Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack | Piano Solo Book Music by Dario Marianelli | Film Score Sheet Music for Intermediate Pianists | Romantic Movie Piano Songbook Review: Great covers of the movie music - I've purchased this book for a few of my students who are fans of Pride and Prejudice. The music is appropriate for Intermediate levels. Students have loved the song choices and enjoy learning the arrangements for themselves. Review: Great book of medium difficulty - I got this for my sister for Christmas. She has been playing piano for 3 or 4 years and stopped taking piano lessons this past June. She loves the movie soundtrack and is modivated to play because the sheet music in the book is true to the soundtrack and is neither too easy nor too difficult. To successfully play these pieces, you need to be generally comfortable on the piano, at the least. If you're fairly new to the piano, it could be a good challenge to work towards, but some of the songs will probably be difficult to navigate. Those looking for challenging literature might find most of the book a little too simple for what they want - but the beauty of this music is in its simplicity. All of the pieces in this book that are piano solo on the soundtrack sound exactly the same and the ones that include orchestral instruments are as close as they could possibly be. We are both impressed with the quality of the score and our house is treated to beautiful music every time she pulls the book out to practice. :)

Great for intermediate players!
I read a ton of reviews before purchasing this book because I've been playing for just under 2 years, so I didn't want to get something too advanced or too easy. I would personally classify this book as an intermediate to early advanced-ish level. Most songs are a medium difficulty level to play, but there are a few that I think require a bit more experience, or help from a piano teacher (especially for "Georgiana"). Again, I haven't really been playing for too long but I think this is a great book for intermediates or above to play. All of the music is beautifully composed, and very fun to play. I would definitely recommend it!

Beautiful music
How this score didn’t win the academy, I’ll never know. Great book for intermediates.

A true translation of the piano-heavy score
This 40-page piano solo book is a wonderful translation of Dario Marianelli's simple but poignant score to the 2005 film "Pride and Prejudice." The book includes 12 of the 17 tracks that appear on the P&P soundtrack CD, and the transcriptions are pretty much exactly as you hear it on the recording. The soundtrack is piano-based with an orchestra, but the songs translate very well into piano solos. Many of the songs are only approximately 2 pages long, which at first glance was disappointing; however, realize that most of the CD tracks are only 1 or 2 minutes in length. So the sheet music stays true to the soundtrack CD. They have chosen the best tracks to put in this book. (I would've liked to have "A Postcard to Henry Purcell" in the book, but that is more of a violin piece, anyway.) Pretty much each has its own distinct theme, yet just like Marianelli's score, they have a unified sound. The sound is a fresh, modern take on Jane Austen's 19th Century England. The music is simple -- scales, trills, and arpeggios, hardly a chord in there. But in its simplicity there is a great emotional depth for pianists to experience. The music is easy to (mostly-)intermediate: simple enough for the novice (at least for someone with 2 years' playing experience and much practicing) but rich enough for an advanced player to really make the notes shine. (Just listen to the fantastic performance by pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet on the soundtrack CD to see how much can be made of this simple score.) Where the songs are difficult to play is this: sweeping arpeggios that require intuitive fingering and favor larger hands; quick grace notes; having to play with crossed hands; occasional fast tempos (e.g. "moderately fast, in 4" on "Georgiana"). Timing/rhythm is pretty simple -- eighth notes for the most part, but can be challenging and irregular at times. Fingering is not included. Pedaling is. Only a few songs specify a metronome count (e.g. Liz on Top of the World states a quarter note = ca. 144; Living Sculptures of Pemberley merely states "slowly, lilting"). There is no spine on this book. It's got a glossy back and front cover, folded and stapled. Still, very much worth purchasing at the Amazon price of less than $10 (over $5 off the cover price). Here are some more specifics: 1. Dawn: 5 pages. 2. Arrival at Netherfield: 5 pages. 3. Stars and Butterflies: 2 pages. One sharp. 4. The Living Sculptures of Pemberley: 4 pages. (2 flats. the last third of the song has six flats.) 5. Meryton Townhall: 4 pages. One sharp. 6. Georgiana: 2 pages. 3 sharps. All naturals. 3 flats. 7. Liz on Top of the World: 2 pages. 2 flats. 8. Leaving Netherfield: 2 pages. 3 flats. 9. Another Dance: 2 pages. 2 flats. 10. Secret Life of Daydreams: 2 pages. 2 flats. 11. Darcy's Letter: 4 pages. 3 flats. 12. Mrs. Darcy: 5 pages. Each composition is pretty fabulous, but the standouts are "Dawn," "Living Sculptures of Pemberley", "Liz on Top of the World," and "Georgiana."

Great music! Consider the easy piano solo version as well
I purchased both the "Easy Piano Solo" and "Piano Solo" versions of this book. The easier book had larger print, fewer notes, and more common notes. The songs were still beautiful and easy to recognize from the movie. However, I ended up preferring the harder versions of a few of the songs like "Georgiana" because they sounded more authentic. Had to study those a lot more to play them. I was glad to have the whole book of songs because they are all so beautiful!

Friends of Thousand Oaks Library service was very good.
I purchased a motion picture soundtrack piano solo book and it arrived promptly and in very good condition. I would definitely purchase books again from Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library.

I really love the film and the music so I got this music book for piano solo. Dario Marionelli, the composer is a genius, the music is so beautiful and they aren't too difficult to follow/learn (I class myself as probably a grade 4-5 in piano). The book has a glossy cover, standard A4 music book size, the notes are big, easy to read and all in all there are 12 music scores as follow: 1. Dawn 2. Stars and Butterflies 3. The Living Sculptures of Pemberley 4. Meryton Townhall 5. Georgiana 6. Arrival at Netherfield 7. Liz on Top of the World 8. Leaving Netherfield 9. Another Dance 10. The Secret Life of Daydreams 11. Darcy's Letter 12. Mrs. Darcy My personal favorite songs are "Liz on Top of the World" and "Darcy's Letter"; and it feels good to be able to learn these songs in a relatively short period of time. I think this book will also attract more fluent pianist (for the music itself) and for those who would like to practice their sight-reading. I will recommend it!
