A GREAT TRAP!
There are 5 different cats that come into our back yard daily to stalk the birds and squirrels that come around to feast on the seeds and peanuts that we leave for them. These cats have decided that our yard is their personal killing field. We have buried several of our little furry and feathered friends. The cats don't eat them, they just kill them. We have spoken to people in the neighborhood in the past, and their attitude is "that's what cats do...deal with it". Well, I DID deal with it. I ordered the GREEN live animal trap, and one by one, those pests (3 so far, in 3 days) are being relocated. The trap works fabulously! As for the reviewers that complained about how HARD the trap was to put together, all I can say is that they must have ZERO mechanical aptitude. You take the cage out of the box, pick it up by the handle, and it unfolds and pretty much assembles itself! You then slide one piece into place to lock everything together, and it's completed! The instructions that came with the trap were actually quite good! If you have trouble reading instructions, just look at the pictures. The whole process is quite simple. As for setting the trap, again, the instructions and pictures make it quite simple to understand. For anyone who has an animal pest problem, this trap is an excellent size for anything from squirrels to cats to racoons, etc. Think twice about leaving it out overnight. Where I live, skunks prowl at night. If you catch one in the trap, You may not have a social life for a while after you let it go! Highly recommended!!!

Trap works but only for small weak animals.
I baited the trap with a can of sardines. The very first time the pest grabbed through the wire from the side of the trap and got most of the fish. The second time I just backed the non-mechanism end into cement wall and put a chair over the trap. Trap didn't move, pest couldn't get to the bait without going through the mechanism. The pest ripped up the chain that connected the bar of the quick-release door to the main cage but it's just cosmetic damage. It held a 30 lb pest pretty well. Easy to clean after pest defecated all over trap. But I'm thinking about spraying some rust proofer and a second coat of paint on the trap.7/26/2014 Something was knocking over my flower pots. Something was stealing my grapes from my grape vines. Someone was taking giant dumps in my fish pond. I busted out the trap again. Baited the trap with dog food. Found a pest that was foaming at the mouth. I was pretty sure it was rabid. Not only was it hissing, it was pawing at it's face.Legal advice about trapping: Raccoons and coyotes are categorized in most states as "mammalian predators". These "mammalian predators" must not be trapped and live-released in another area for fear of spreading diseases such as roundworms or rabies. Pest control companies who catch "mammalian predators" are mandated by most states to euthanize the trapped animal.7/27/2014 After catching four, the final one ripped open the trap door and ran off. There was blood everywhere. I feel sort of disappointed. 2 stars.

Be Careful With This Company
I read the reviews & was confused. One person had a hard time assembling & couldn't figure out the instructions, the other person found it easy & didn't have a clue why the other person had a hard time.It turns out the company actually ships 2 items under the same description!I ordered this item & got the "hard" version first... Not that it means anything, but the cage was not green. It had impossible to understand instructions & was missing a bracket to hold the cage in place! & started rusting in a couple of days.I returned it & ordered another. The 2nd one was the easy version. It had clear instructions & assembled easily & had the bracket to hold it in place. It also is more rust resistant.IF they ship you the right item, it is a good buy. If they do not, feel free to return it because they gave you a sub!

Poorly made, falls apart, animal gets away
I purhased this cage to trap a stray cat that's been peeing and terrorizing my own cats. I plan to take and get him neutered, vaccinated and keep him as he is friendly and just seems to want a home. But his behavior is driving everyone nuts. On to the cage..First point that's actually good is basically no assembly required. The cage walls are very misaligned and impossible to get back into place. This makes for setting the tap door which works on a tiny hook mechanism that gets released when the cat steps on a plate inside the trap, near impossible to set without using force and at least two people. So once I got the trap set it did work and I trapped the cat for all of 10 minutes. The cat went crazy inside the trap and was able to remove the back door pin. Now the back door pin has a fail safe chain (piece of crap) to handle this event. Well the chain engaged and kept the door shut but with persistent cat beating on the door the flimsy chain busted and it was home free for the cat.So I am off to home depot to buy better chain and clips. If I had to do it over I would not buy this cage. It is already stressful on everyone involved in trapping the cat (and the poor cat) and having to do it again and again is hard on us all! What I do like about the cage is it's large size. Once I trap this cat he'll be in the cage for probably 10+ hrs. Obviously you need to put a towel/newspaper in the cage bottom so he's not standing on wire that whole time.

Not as sturdy as some others
Decent trap that gets the job done. Not as sturdy as some others, but it costs a lot less so it is a good value. It is much lighter than some other traps so that is nice if you have a large colony to trap.

works great
it's a simple design that folds flat for storage and shipping. A hefty "U" shaped brace flips down in front by the door to make that area sturdy (mine came pre-attached, maybe a new design judging by the reviews and instruction book) and the back door flips up and is held in place by a crossbar with a safety link to keep it shut.I did have to bend the trap latch a little to keep it from tripping spontaneously, but anyone with basic mechanical skills should be able to figure this out.Considering that the price was great at less than half of the local store prices, i'm really impressed.
