Good Introduction to the Subject
I have never done any underwater photography before but when I got the chance to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef, I decided to dip my foot in the water and record some sea life. The book really helped with the basics of getting the photos and with post production. I came away with photos I was happy with. The only problem was the sea temperature which meant I couldn't spend as much time in the water as I would have liked.

Lots of good tips and reminders and much more
I haven't gotten into the more sophisticated part of the book yet but so far I have learned lots of good ideas and tips. Next I will delve into using the camera's setting to get better pictures.

A basic book that is very good for beginners
A basic book that is very good for beginners. If you are experienced there are a few good tips, etc. but nothing that you probably don't know or haven't experienced.

Excellent manual for those of us with compact cameras.
Extremley easy to read. Has lots of pictures demonstrating the effects of f-stops, ISO speed, and aperture in UW photography. Good guide for developing UW photography techniques. Reading it a second time as we speak. Highly recommended for beginner through advanced photographer.

This book focuses on compact cameras which is the most popular for non pro underwater photographers! It will for sure add to your underwater photography skills

This is an excellent book, eapecially if you are a novice with a compact camera and underwater photography, as I am. All my questions about both topics were answered and provided me with solid foundational knowledge to begin pursuing UW photography with my compact camera. Well written and organized, with beautiful illustrations to demonstrate the information presented. I highly recommend this book.

The Worst Underwater Photography Book I've Bought
I've bought a fair few books including those from experienced underwater photographers like Alex Mustard, Martin Edge, and Nick Robertson-Brown, and Paul Colley. But this is really an amateur hour attempt, a lot of aspects of underwater photography are incredibly poorly described, and at this point it's so astoundingly outdated that it's just of no real value. It just comes across as a book written by an amateur underwater photography with little experience trying to cash in on what little they know.Stick to books written by the professionals.

Really good becasue it actually teaches you technical stuff
Writer clearly has very high level of technical knowledge but translates this into very practical advice with real examples, so superb learning tool. Example, I have good understanding of realtionship between aperture and depth of field but that did not extend to how sensor size also affects this, that is neatly explained in the book why compact cameras have an advantage in some ways I think it was in Macro photography. You really learn that underwater photography brings you several extra variables you don't haveon land. DO I want a black background, or a colourful one? How can I catch rays beaming through the water?Obviously don't buy for original Kindle reader it is useless in Black and White!

Unique and Invaluable
Having been involved in underwater photography for several years using different compact cameras, this is the only book I have found focused on compact cameras rather than DSLRs. Most give a passing reference to calculating equivalent settings for compact cameras after lengthy explanations about the DSLR settings; this one gives clear information that is relevant to my camera kit, and has given me new ideas for my next trip. Excellent! Those who like this my also like Martin Edge's excellent book on underwater photography The Underwater Photographer . These two are now my bibles on the subject. The Underwater Photographer
