Can these be used on plexiglass to make a hinged opening?

The hinges are very small. The material would have to be very thin/light and opening small. Iwould prefer a piano type hinge

As far as I can tell, it is metal. In the description, it says the base is made of zinc. I will upload a close up of the screw and back of base so that you can see the threads. Everything has held very well for me.
