Very valuable and readable
Like many with MCS I have brainfog and can't read like I used to, so I was hesitant to buy yet another health-advice book that would sit unread on the shelf. But this one was pretty easy to handle! I will cpoy the review of it I wrote to my MCS support group:I really REALLY like this book! It will be months before I can get my foggy brain organized enough to plan what to do based on his advice, & find room in the budget for each thing. Maybe in a year I'll be saying "This book cured me!" but for now I have no idea how it will actually pan out, of course. One thing is that it's fairly well priced. If you do ebooks it's a major bargain. I got a real book but used so it was only $10. Even at full price though, it's not very costly at all.I like the way he writes- very easy to understand. He uses examples and provides links for further study, but he does strive to keep it brief & simple which is great- I can't handle reading too much info all at once. He expresses himself very clearly. Not one line of it has confused me. But don't think that means it's light- it is packed with info. Just presented in an easy-to-follow way.I like his attitude- he seems to have a reasonable skeptical viewpoint. He isn't just "Well I heard this is important and that too and try this also and and...!" like some bloggers who are just out to fill their weekly column. He will say "I don't think this makes sense" or "This treatment has a lot of the same goals as this other one, & since I think the other one's better, there'd be no point in doing this one too". I mean, he isn't just some "cheerleader" who likes everything. He advises against many things too.The things he does like, he explains different options, which is SO GREAT. Like say the best way to tackle that facet of the illness is with some obscure type of practitioner, or some super expensive device. He may argue that it's worth it! but he will also offer a cheaper device that, while not as good, at least provides SOME benefit... or a therapy you could do at home if you can't find or attend or afford a special practitioner. He gives you an array of alternatives. He isn't going to guilt you because you can't do one of the things on his list- he wants you to be able to follow his plan on any budget, with whatever limitations you have. One thing he suggests is to try the supplement protocol from Dr Pall and I haven't even opened that website yet- I'm sure it will be overwhelming. But he does explain (I think he understands how brainfoggy many of us are! <3) the basics"so a five year old could understand" like he says go to the Pall-affiliated store at this website and buy this package of several products, plus add these other couple products from this other shop. He explains it to be really easy to grasp, which is a huge relief to me! If you WANT to learn more, he suggests where to look, but if you just want him to spoon-feed you his conclusions, that's what the book does. If your brain's not up to checking out any of the books & websites he mentions, you can skip that. Again: he's very low pressure! At the end of each section he summarizes in bullet-point lists. I am also using a highlighter. So after I read it I can go over it again & skim the main ideas. Or if my husband or GP are curious, they could skim through & just glance at the summaries to get an idea. Some of the things are EMF stuff (I don't react to EMF) but he argues that we all should minimize our exposure to avoid becoming sensitized & because any extra stress on the body is bad whether or not it gets to the point of a full on reaction. I admit I'm not fully convinced about grounding/earthing, but neither am I opposed to it. I am becoming more tempted to have a go... he lists some products that are in lower price ranges, so you don't have to go investing in some $500 sheet right away- you could try grounding or shielding your laptop and see if you feel better, at a low cost. The other thing that makes me increasingly likely to try it is his attitude. He's obviously put a TON of time & effort into researching all the possible options for healing MCS, and he's rejected many, so if he says he's narrowed it down to a few with the most potential, & earthing is in the top ten, that gets my attention!I dunno, I just plain trust the guy's judgement. I really think his sole motive is that all the work he put into healing his wife gets made use of. Maybe he's not 100% right about everything but he seems to have done a lot of experimenting & reading, & he has good reasons for believing in the things he believes in. It's bound to be useful to be able to avoid so much researching ourselves & just get the "Cole's Notes" version from him- it saves hundreds of hours & so much effort. I think that this book can provide a good head-start to designing your own healing program, even if you end up deciding to modify the plan a bit. I think I'll do everything he says though. I may ADD other details but I think SKIPPING anything would be risky. As he says, it's synergistic. Doing 3/4 of the stuff won't get you 3/4 of the results & may not even get you anywhere at all. He is emphatic about doing it ALL.I think he mentions bottom line somewhere... it would cost a grand or two if you do the cheap version of everything... so it isn't out of reach for most of us. I aim to buy one device or a few supplements, or learn one skill, every month or two until finally I have the entire program happening.

The basics but quick and effective
I understand the point of view of a reader that says the book being a little ''dry'' and impersonal but I do not mind at all.Experiencing MCS and EMF hypersensitivity myself, having information that will be easily and quickly readable (thanks for all the little summaries in every chapter) because fatigue, brain fog, and aching are a part of every day is A PLUS. Thanks for sharing this information with us... and most of all... I bought it because I needed proof it is curable.

This book gives HOPE!
Healing Severe Chemical and Electro-Hypersensitivity is a book filled with hope. After helping his wife heal from severe debilitation from both chemical and electro-hypersensitivity, Gary has chosen to share their experiences and successes with the world. The chemical and electro sensitivities were so debilitating that a normal, healthy functioning woman was reduced to staying in a darkened home, unable to participate in her normal work and social life. As time went on the problems worsened and something that we take for granted, like going grocery shopping, became an unbearable occurrence. Her return to health is a testament to perseverance, patience and faith. They never gave up and after researching and voraciously reading everything on these misunderstood maladies and starting treatments, the strategies they employed started to work. Progress was made and finally a full recovery was accomplished and she returned to work and her normal social life. In this easy to read book, the author defines each sensitivity. He then goes on to describe a myriad of treatment possibilities and highlights the ones that were successful. A list of Essential Treatments and a list of Essentials on a Tight Budget help the reader to understand the multiple avenues of healing. Thoroughly researched, the author lists websites, books, products and treatments that the reader may choose to use. For anyone suffering either or both of these sensitivities, this book is like a ray of sunshine.-Richard Flatau author of Cordwood Construction: Best Practices

Good intentions.
The book says that it's a story about a woman's journey to heal from these illnesses, but there is NO story at all, nor a "journey". It's impersonal. Her husband is the writer. Author states, "Our story starts out with, "what the heck happened"? But It devotes less than 1/2 page of how she gets sick from exposure at work. Suddenly, one experiences page after page of anecdotal recommendations. Most of these recommendations entail therapies that are $$$, and leaving the house which is difficult/impossible for many people who are chronically ill with MCS. It's a short "book" about what is recommended from other books, viz., Dr. Pall's books. I wanted to read a journey, feel the pain and raw emotions and how she dealt with suddenly becoming ill, and what helped her the most. I wanted to hear from her, not her husband. His intentions are pure and good, but I'm sorry I didn't find anything helpful in this book, and have more useful research from my own Internet searches.

Needs editing
I appreciate the author's enthusiasm and agree with much of what he has written about his wife's journey to health. However, the book needs some serious editing.

Informative reading
This book helped direct me to purchase several items to combat against EMF as I believe I suffer from symptoms of exposure. It is easy to read and very informative.

Multiple Chemical and Electrical sensitivities
I am pleased with this book, because unfortunately I suffer from both these conditions and am housebound much of the time which makes for horrible loneliness, but this book tells how another unfortunate recovered from these conditions and has gone on to lead a normal life. so this book may help similarly affected folk and helps others to understand the illnesses better.

Very good book and well structured, information in it is very valuable but may not apply to everybody. Highly recommended.

Too much of a scatter gun approach
Although I don't doubt that some people may find this book a useful read, I found it confusing, unrealistic and quite far off from meeting its claims of a 'breakthrough cure'. Through the book, a long list of possible treatment options are suggested, with the author failing to overlook the fact that many people simply will not have the time or finances to trial and error all suggestions. Any books making claims of miracles should be succinct, and offer a prescriptive solution (with maybe some context). This book misses the mark greatly.
