Arabic Course (3 Volumes) for English-speaking Students Hardcover – January 1, 2006

I completeled the first book and now on the 2 nd book. It is not perfect but good enough to learn the grammar including sarf and nahw. I am not a fan of the way it explains new concepts but I love the exercises in this book. It also teaches enough vocabulary.

I have used Dr. Abdur-Rahim's books for many years and when I saw this revision I immediately bought it. The quality, layout and colorful text is awesome. It is very easy to go from the lesson key to the corresponding Arabic lesson, keep in mind that the drills are given in Arabic and you will need the go to the lesson key to translate and do the lesson, but this is not problem or issue all. I suggest reading key first and then going on to the Arabic lesson. I highly recommend this set for anyone wanting to learn Arabic, however, for the absolute beginner, wanting to learn the alphabet and phonics, I would recommend "Living Language series Arabic", which can be ordered here on Amazon, it comes with nine CD's and an Arabic script guide and three textbooks for beginners to advance. It is excellent for the beginner and you can learn at your own pace.

Extremely beneficial books for learning Fusha (Classical Arabic) especially for the non-native speaker of Arabic. I recommend these books for the native speaker of English with special interest focus on becoming a student in an Islamic University, in a traditional setting.Sincerely,Ahmed Franklin

I have finished the course and found it outstanding, a "must buy". This course is world-renowned, is used in schools, colleges and universities throughout the world, and the back cover says it successfully helps acquire an understanding of hundreds of Qur'aanic passages, Hadiiths, poetry, parables, classical and modern Arabic texts etc. I fully agree.NOTICEABLE FEATURES OF THE COURSE IN MY OPINION:* Written in an easy, step-by-step format* Explanations are clear, in polished English and Arabic* Material is meticulously well-structured and logically organised* Covers an extensive amount of the Arabic Sciences* Works on the weighty principle that you learn the fundamentals before learning the details* You learn what is easy before what is more challenging* Lessons connect to each other: what is previously learnt, is revised by blending material into new points being taught* Copious, creative exercises give ample drilling in of material* Vibrant colours are used to highlight rules and examples, and colourful illustrations are used to help understand vocabulary and conversation content* Hard back covers, glossy pages and beautiful, fresh design, add to the attraction of this course (well worth the price).A SIGNIFICANT ATTRACTION FOR ME:One significant attraction for me is that the author is not an ordinary teacher but a Scholar of Arabic who is also an expert of foreign languages, and speaks English fluently. He obtained his MPhil and PhD degrees in Arabic Philology from the renowned University of Al-Azhar (Cairo, Egypt) and also majored in English Language and Literature. The author was formerly Professor of Arabic Philology for 30 years at the world-renowned Islaamic University, Madinah and has taught Arabic to non-Arabs for more than 50 years (yes, more than 50 years!)This profile is very rewarding. It is sufficient for those of us who want the best possible teacher to teach us non-Arabs, the Arabic language.MY CONCLUSION OF THE ARABIC LANGUAGE:One finishes the course concluding that Arabic is innocent of all the misconceptions associated with it. It is not a difficult language at all to learn, but very easy with a very logical lexical and grammatical system. One discovers Arabic's admirable qualities and 'easy-going' nature while doing the course.
