Obata's Yosemite Note Card Set

Amazing prints by an exceptional artist!
I'm so grateful that I got to see the Chiura Obata exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum earlier this year, before the whole world shut down, and sad to reflect that so many people who would have also seen it this spring won't have the chance now. I've long been aware of Chiura Obata's paintings of life in the internment camps, but the exhibition really opened up my eyes to the breadth and range of his work. The Yosemite print series was shockingly good. How did he make woodblock prints that had as much tonal variation as watercolor paintings, even at really close first-hand inspection? I would love to learn more about his techniques. In the meantime, I was happy to come across this note card set featuring the Yosemite prints, to remind me how cool they were and maybe share them with friends.

Beautiful cards
This is my second box. When I saw that I had used most of the cards in the first box, I had to buy this second box so I would have a complete set. These cards are too nice to send out to just anyone and should be saved for special people!

Beautiful!
These cards are fantastic! Delicate, yet powerful images. Yosemite is my favorite National Park and the images painted capture the awesome beauty there. I will be sharing them with my friends here and in Europe.

Alibris Client Services refunded me for the card order. Customer satisfaction is clearly important to them. Thank you Alibris.
I was unhappy to find that they were not as advertised on your site. What you advertised is cards published by Yosemite Association. The cards you sent me were published by Yosemite Conservancy. Since I have a box of cards published by Yosemite Association (published in Maylasia) that I bought a couple of years ago I knew immediately when I opened the cards you sent that the were not the same. The ones you sent are published by Yosemite Conservancy (published in China). There is a big difference in the colors used in printing and I far prefer the Association cards. You might want to change your listing of cards to reflect the correct publisher. Thank you.

absolutely beautiful
I use these cards for "thank you" and "thinking of you" cards. I have received so many compliments after sending them. I actually bought a cheap frame and placed one of the cards in it.
